thinking that Hawaii may have one more offer available for Jones to be Head Coach, AND Athletic Director. He would not only get the higher pay, but be in a position to promote the changes that he has wanted for so long.
I think he is a pretty upright guy that will abide by his contract agreement but if I were Hawaii, I would at least consider the pitch.

i dont want him to get on that plane. it could hit him when he gets off the plane and see the beauty of the island. then he calls us to say "no deal" after all.

Guessing the cotract is signed with a nice buyout in it.
I am hoping/guessing he will just give a lot of advice on
who should be AD and Head Coach.

I guess we'll see how it goes. I think a good deal of us are suffering paranoia because of who we hired, how long this process took and how difficult it was for Jones.
I posted yesterday about Dana Altman and Bobby Cremins backtracking after the press conference.
You never can tell. Personally, I wouldn't be surprised if he changed his mind.

I am sure the contract is signed and there is probably some nasty buyout provisions to make sure that JJ stays here for a little while at the least.

From what I have read, there is so much infighting going on at UH and the legislature, I am not sure anyone would want to go there for a while

The contract was signed before the press conference.

not being negative just overly concerned. steve-O needs to go back to the island with him and stand next to him the whole time as to avoid any last minute overtures.

I am never negative nor am I scared. I just have read that Jones loves Hawaii, wants to retire there, and wants changes to the program. I have watched 2 coaches at Arkansas in the past 6 months accept jobs and then be announced and then back out of the deal. It happens all the time and I posed the question. I also said I thought he was a man of good standing and would honor his committment but asked what others might think.

The thought crossed my mind as well but I've decided to be in denial about the possibility. Hopefully he "felt the love" from the SMU community yesterday and will not be swayed.

Forgive me when I ask, "How do you know that?"
Logic tells me the school wouldn't let him return to Hawaii to get his things without his signature. Heck, we should send somebody over there for him to get his stuff.
But I do agree with the internal fighting going on at the school, the offer of AD and coach may not be good enough because of what he's witnessed interally. Even if he was AD, the protocol could be so backed up, the changes may or may not ever happen.
