June Jones took our program from 0-12 to 9-2 in one year. Why can't he do the same for SMU? Somehow, gut feeling tells me that he'll take SMU to a bowl game next year...Does anyone know what the football schedule is for 2008? New SMU fan here from Hawaii...good luck to ya all.

WOW! Easy capatin optimism! But I am curious as to why you see UCF as a loss, if TCU and Navy are wins?
Sports, and all that implies.

If we win 10 games next year June Jones is the greatest coach in the history of organized sports. Remember we have a defense that was horrendous last season and will be breaking in a totally new offensive scheme. However, I believe the talent is there for 7 wins. The key will be how quickly Willis and Co. can adapt to Jones' Run N Shoot. We'll see soon enough.
Back off Warchild seriously.

Navy? They don't have Paul "Backdoor" Johnson. UCF? Obviously a classic trap game when you win 8 in a row...
wow.

I had to find a second loss....I figure 11-1 is just plain ridiculous
Actually, it is more that I feel TCU will be very weak offensively and we should be able to put them away. Last season it was just a couple of mistakes that cost us the game rather than TCU going out and winning it. I don't see JW and company misfiring like that at home next season.
Navy - OK, we should probably expect to lose that game. But they lost PJ, and I think that, as we play them later in the season, we will be in good shape. the question is how does JJ play the flex-bone, if Navy even maintain that style of play to the level they have under PJ?
UCF - I think we can beat them, but I reckon it is a long way out there to play and they have had some success and will likely have a lot on the line.
I just think that with some belief in ourselves and a lot of better tackling and more pressure on the QB we can REALLY succeed in C-USA with the players we have.
I still maintain we were the best 1-11 team in the country. 28 points a game on offense does not susually only bring 1 win.

I agree that last year we had 5-6 games we should of won, but we didn't. That is tough on a team, to loose so many games in the last minute/OT. In 2006 we had alot of games go the other way for us, we caught some breaks (unusual for SMU). 2007 we found ways to loose games and that is no the mark of a good team.
I hope you are right! I would love to see SMU go undefeated and replace Junes 99 Hawaii team for the best single season turn around. but realistically, this defense still needs a lot of work, the offense will take time to get used to but a new coach this "wow" does bring with it a air of confidence!
Sports, and all that implies.
