Jones playing it right back in Hawaii

Postby George S. Patton » Fri Jan 11, 2008 3:04 pm

Based on what I have been reading, it would appear that June Jones has done this the right way since he returned to get what he needs before he returns here.

1. Keeping a low profile regardless of the hat he supposedly wore the other day.

2. Not returning the media's calls.

3. Moving that Wednesday to another time to avoid the media.

4. Little to no contact with Hawaii administrators (my analysis on this one)

I think the less he says the better, and I were him, I wouldn't have a farewell press conference. Just slip quietly into that good night and let Hawaii move on. No reason to drag this out.

Exactly...I think he needs to get his things and get out. Come coach us and then slip back home after his time is done here.

Get out of the limelight!

Well, he took out a full page ad in both newspapers. A copy of the letter/ad is here: http://www.junejonesfoundation.org/web/

Nice. A little Dylan Thomas reference.

5. Having second thoughts.

I like what this guy is doing off the field too. The JJ Foundation. The UH Quarterback charity thing. Very impressive.

I was told the contract was signed before the press conference. We're fine. If he had second thoughts, it would have happened by now.

Didn't know about the full-page ad. But that's fine. That's probably the "press conference"

It would have happened by now. But being a Pony fan, I'm conditioned to expect tragedy! Tuesday and Wednesday I did a cursory check of the board just to make sure there was no Bobby Cremins or Billy Donovan redux.

If you're state government is getting involved with this, the only way Hawaii's situation will change is through private fundraising. Leave the eyesore government out of the equation or they will mess this up for sure.

Like the line on the other thread said, "If it ain't broke, fix it until it is.''

Reminds me of a signature someone uses on another message board site. "I work for the government, and we are not happy until you are not happy." :D
