Hawaii DL coach.....we could really use this guy.

Jeff Reinebold, Hawaii

Reinebold has been a hot target with several NFL teams, and it's no surprise after he helped Hawaii assemble its best recruiting class in almost 20 years. The Warriors finished third in the WAC behind traditional powers Boise State and Fresno State, and Reinebold's efforts were a key. He landed all but two of Hawaii's players in this year's class, with an average star rating of 2.75. What was most impressive about his efforts is that he was able to pull players from totally different parts of the country. He got signees from California, Illinois and even Texas.

You want to know the REALLY impressive part of how Reinbold got UH to significantly upgrade the quality of their recruits? His first year doing that he was a *Graduate Assistant* because UH didn't have any assistant coach openings. He wanted to work for JJ and he wanted to live in Hawaii, so he basically worked for free!

This past season JJ had Coach Duff working as a graduate assistant. Duff is also an excellent recruiter and way overqualified for the GA spot...but he was fine with waiting his turn for a spot on the staff.

Dennis McKnight was the OL and special teams coordinator when HE was a Graduate Assistant basically working for free.

The players, coaches, media, and the booster club all want McMackin. The football booster club (Na Koa) NEVER endorsed a coach before. I know that Gilbride wants the job and that Chow might want it...but I can't imagine anyone except for McMackin to get the job.

That is too bad because a JJ offense paired with a McMackin defense is an awesome thing to behold. They had 2 seasons together--1999 they took the players from an 0-12 team and went 9-4. In 2007 they went to the Sugar Bowl and won Hawaii's first outright WAC title.
