USAToday: NCAA giving further consideration to a Playoff

Interestingly enough the article said the PAC-10 still opposes a playoff. I'd think the Oregon and USC Presidents would be threatening to join the WAC or MWC or something, if the Conference didn't support a playoff.

Why would USC fight it...they were given a split of a NC in 2003 by being popular and some people wanted to give them a split this year for being popular...why would they want to have to prove it on the field?
