Guys,
I'm not coming off my stance. I like and respect Knight. And I'll miss him. I'm a big fan of his. And it's your choice to loathe him. That's fine. I've drawn the ire of many folks like yourselves, so this is nothing new.

But then again, we won't have to worry about this anymore since he's out of the game.

I don't condone or look the other way from some of the personal things he did. There was only one perfect man in the history of our planet and look what happened to him.

We'll never agree on this. But he will always be one my all-time favorite figures.

Well, at least Knight will have plenty of time to play golf, since he seems to love it so much:

I can see how you are entertained by him - sort of like a circus clown - but repect?? I will save my respect for people who are not self absorbed jerks.

He did train lots of good coaches - and in the character department Dave Bliss was his protege - correct??

He is smart and and maybe the most knowlegable coach ever in the game of basketball - but without a sense of humility or self control he was just a loaded weapon that went off from time to time - which will forever tarnish his reputation.

Smart is a moment. Character is forever.

Not asking you to come off of your stance. Just want you to know that it is wrong.

Let me clarify my comments for those that obviously don't follow recruiting. Bob Knight is one of the greatest College Basketball Coaches in the history of the sport. Fact is that for the last 15 years he has hasn't been able to recruit anything more than mediocre talent relative to his competition. As great as he is he could not overcome the lack of talent on his teams relative to his competition

ONE OF THE GREATEST COACHES EVER + MEDIOCRE RECRUITING= MEDIOCRE COLLEGE BASKETBALL COACH

I have to agree. He was a great coach, but he never landed a big-time recruit at Tech. In fact, he was out-recruited by Baylor the past few years.

Barely had a winning conference record at Tech. When is the last time he had a team finish in the Top 20 over the last 10 years. I'd bet its been 15 years since his 1992-1993 Indiana Team. Hasn't won a conference title since that season.
who wants to go to lubbock? not exactly a hot spot for 18 year olds

It IS however a hotspot for STDs.

HBO did a special on John Wooden. They still air it occasionally.

It is a MUST SEE.

Arguably the greatest coach in American sport and one of the nicest human beings as well...such a contrast to Knight.

The only thing I was trying to point out to you is that he is not in the same class as Dean Smith. In wins, yes, they both had more than 800 wins so their career stats are both up there. I'm just mesmerized that you hold him in as high regard as a guy like Dean Smith.

You can respect him all you want for his wins, or his knowledge, but I for one just find it odd that you hold them in similar regard. Not trying to change your mind, or argue the point, just pointing out that I'm baffled. That about sums it up from my perspective.

If you saw Jay Bilas' interview with Knight on Tuesday and his analysis at the half of Duke-UNC, he didn't think Knight was done. He thought he might return for another opportunity. Interesting.

He has realized that he is barely relevant anymore, and that that couldn't change while he was at Tech. He still thinks he should be at a legit top 25 program. He took the opportunity to set his son up with a nice starter job, but he couldn't stand being stuck in Lubbock anymore.

Had you not heard this? Tech has the highest STDs per capita than every other college in the states... No joke. Somebody did a study or something...
