The Big Band Returns

Postby DiamondM75 » Sat Feb 09, 2008 10:06 am

Don't be surprised when you enter Moody tonight!

Tonight is the annual Mustang Band Experience. There will be the combined Mustang Band of 75 students and 50 high school students who have been invited to be a member of The Mustang Band for the day. So when you enter Moody don't be surprised to see the Big Band of over 100 members.

Oh, and after the band plays, please show you appreciation.
Just send 'da money.

Why don't we do this more than once. I remember last year is was pretty cool. There must be 100rds of deserving HS band players in the metroplex. A great tool for marketing SMU.

The main reason is HS band kids just don't have the time. Between marching, UIL solo and ensemble competitions and UIL band competition, the kids just don't have available weekends that also coinside with SMU home BB games. Plus, the Diamond M Club sponsors and pays for this event and they don't have endless funds.

The band didn't look any larger than usual tonight. I wonder if it's supposed to happen at a different game?

Didn't really seem that much bigger from the game we were at a couple weeks ago. Were the guest band members wearing the same shirts as the regular band? I guess I am used to seeing the bands at football games wear much different outfits.

They were wearing blue tshirts instead of blue polos... The HS kids were the ones sitting down.

While I'm thinking about it, can you guys switch to blue-and-red striped rugby shirts? With Doh on the sideline, that would help add to the ACC look.

Kind of like what you see here:

Horizontal stripes will make them look fat. Go with vertical. :D

For some - its not a matter of "looking" fat.

Plus I thought we wanted a bigger looking band.
