Can't we just all chip in a few bucks and buy him out of what is left of his contract. Or maybe we can trade him to DCCC for an old pc and some spanish language tapes to be named later.

"A school without football is in danger of deteriorating into a medieval study hall" ....from the same source of quotes... Matty Bell once stated, "There's one sure way to stop us from scoring - give us the ball near the goal line"

E-mailing Turner would be fine, but starting with the first person in line as supervisor is going to get a more immediate reaction for Mr Henson. Faculty/Staff issues have a chain of subordination just like anywhere else...going too high means someone will have to pass it down the same chain, with no promise of reading/action. The supervisor has an immediate dog in this fight.

man, what a train-wreck this fella must be as an instructor.

it's probably cheaper for the school to let this one just go by the wayside and not fire the guy. not that anything he has done is grounds for a firing (other than being disliked).

This is exactly the type of individual that stays within the law but does everything he can to make people want to see his ouster from his employment. then he can sue for wrongful termination. these kind of folks (those looking for a settlement that is) are horrible for our university.
Ok this is getting ridiculous...I agree with Dutch on THIS ONE POST by him totally

Exactly...he may not look at all the facts but he is careful to not lie...I really wish we would be able to terminate him and Mr. Odiari could sue for libel, but right now there's no case for that.

Often, I'm sure. Look at all the attention he is getting. He has figured out what gets somebody elses panties in a wad - and he likes the attention - he's just an unhappy individual that doesn't fit in... ANYWHERE.

peruna 81, I tried to distinguish between the two (instructor and professor), but, neither group should invade that "safe space" an impresionable student should have. Not to criticize you, nor review what I wrote that might have given you the impression that I don't know the difference, but young students generally do not. The man is a bully, and should be formally reprimanded and judged before a more formal court, the honor consel, the facuilty review committee, whatever for his calling out of a young student. He is naive if he doesn't believe almost every male student on campus doesn't have a fake ID. I had one over forty years ago and so did everyone on this board...I would take odds. But that is not what really bothers me. He is a professonal, working with kids, that in one way or another are paying for their education, he has no business passing judgement on an individual; he collectively is in charge of molding their lives. If he sees a trend, OK, but never, ever does he have the right to single out a single student by name, and in writing.

At most schools, instructors are hired year-to-year. The school usually can opt just not to offer him a job next year. No firing necessary. "Where's my contract?" "We decided to go in a different direction, we hired a hispanic woman to teach Spanish to increase the diversity of the faculty! I hear DCCC has openings." Usually, the head of the Department is the one who makes the call on these hirings and hire old drinking buddies, girlfriends, or boyfriends. Writing to the head of the Spanish Department with a copy to the Provost (who oversees all academic issues) would be the way to go. That way, the head of the Department can say, hey man, this stuff is way out of line, cut it out or look for work elsewhere next year.

I would write to the Editor of the Daily Campus saying that publishing a letter such as his is out of line and they ought to exercise a little discretion. No reputable paper would have published that piece of trash.

Bingo. 9 month contracts. Only thing is there have been some cases where an instructor was denied tenure, or his contract wasn't picked up, and in two of those the instructors sued the school on the basis of discrimination and won. Whatever the civil liberties thing governing professors and instructors actually wound up censuring the school. In that case, it was actually a hispanic university president weeding out the anglos..or so they alleged in the suit.
