No way. Six, minimum, and maybe more. Their last-place team (Virginia) would be second in C-USA, and would beat the hell out of Houston.

Not this year unless a couple of those mid-level teams get it together and make a run.

ACC will most likely only get 4 teams: Duke, UNC, MD, Clemson...itll only get one more if someone else besides those four win the ACC tourney title. i dont see that happening

Kentucky is terrible this year (for Kentucky, anyway). The only way they get in is if they can somehow win the SEC conference.

Doens't matter how many teams the Pac 10 sends to the tourney because most of them will be out in the first 2 rounds. Very soft conference in tournament play.

Your right and wrong

2007: UCLA, USC and Oregon made the Sweet 16. UCLA went to the Final Four (for the second straight year) and Oregon lost to Florida in the regional final.

2006 and 2005 were weak performances overall.

I think the CAA and the BE will get more bids. I think WV and DePaul are bubble teams right now. In the CAA - VCU and George Mason are both having good years. And the conference as a whole is stronger.

DePaul is under .500 overall and in league play. WV could but the Mountaineers need to stop blowing games like they did last week against Pitt.

In looking at RPI's the other school from the BE, I think that Syracuse is on the bubble, you're right DePaul has slipped quite a bit. Right now Houston's at 52 and UAB is at 72 in RPI. That puts UAB way below the bubble due to autobid teams which are in the 100's in RPI. So, they need some help. Houston is on the bubble and needs to win out except against Memphis and needs to advance at least to the finals of the tournament (or semi-finals if they play Memphis).

So, how far does Memphis make it in the Tourney?

Depends on the draw. But they're good enough to go to the Final Four. Elite 8 the last two years.

Selection committee wasn't too nice to them the last two years. In 2006, they played UCLA in the West finals in Oakland where all the UCLA alums could make the drive.

In 2007, they played Ohio State in San Antonio. Ohio State, of course, had Greg Oden and Mike Conley. One of the best guard-big man combos in the NCAA's the last couple of years.

But this Memphis team is very balanced. I like the way they play defense. If their region is loaded, it will be tough. If they're the No. 1 seed in the tournament, then they could catch a break in their bracket.

And for EastStang, I agree with UH. Probably will lose at Memphis. But they have to be a very salty second-place finisher to warrant an at-large. Probably need to get to the finals and should.

This reminds me when Penders was at Texas and Richardson was at Arkansas. Arkansas was the big dog and Texas, while good, played second fiddle. Coogs should make it if they do what they're supposed to do.

They are good enough to win it. They will have to stay sharp though through towards the end of conference season. Hopefully someone will really push them in the CUSA tournament so they aren't still on cruise control in the early rounds of the NCAA.

I am hoping they get placed in the Little Rock early round. If the NCAA goes according to plan, they are supposed to place schools geographically close to the arenas which would make Little Rock a good option for Memphis, Arkansas (I would love to see that match up) and Tennesse which also would be an interesting match. I have my tickets and am hoping for the best.

Speaking of the Cougars, pretty big blow for them on Wednesday as they lost at UAB, 101-99.
