...and now ya'll know why Sam Houston State fans really, really dislike Southwest Texas State fans. They're an annoying bunch who like to think they're better than the rest of the Southland Conference schools and are entitled to something.

I may be wrong but I believe SMU's home opener will be on either Saturday, Aug. 30 or Monday, September 1 against Southwest Texas State.

Either way, I can't wait to see SMU kick the crap out of the Bobkitties in Dallas.

Once again I'll own up to it that I'm stealing this directly from someone else, but they're a very well spoken and intelligent voice on SMU and college football in general.

SMU will score at least 70 points on Texas State. SMU may give up 40, but SMU will score at least 70, and June Jones will be absolutely merciless about it. Not in the sense of a vendetta, but in making a definitive and noticed statement.

I'd love to see a hundred total on the board... We came pretty close in a few games last year

Maybe we could get a local restaurant to sponsor a contest. Each time the total score of the game equals 100 points or more, fans with their ticket stubs get free wings or something. Kinda like the Taco Bell deal with the chalupas.

We already have someone giving free wings if we win. I doubt they want to take on more risk. They only had to pay up once last year.

Sorry, not dreaming. And personally, I take him at his word because of the fact that he is heavily involved in college football, and particularly well versed when it comes to SMU sports, especially in analysis. So when he speaks, generally, you listen because you're about to learn something.

Also, this offense put up 52, 55, 45, 45, 45, and 42 points over the last two seasons. The last games against non D-1A opponents were 45-14, against Sam Houston in 2006, and 58-16, but that was back in 1999, and I believe they either dropped from D1-AA or dropped football altogether after that year. The offense does lose three starting lineman and the top two receivers behind Emmanuel Sanders.

Jones also comes here with point to prove and a chip on his shoulder; the run and shoot is going to work, it is going to work very, very well, and he will rebuild this football program. That is unquestionably the mindset and confidence he is operating from, and he will see to it that this team scores a great deal of points to start the season and make a well noticed point.

Do you truly believe you have a chance at winning this game?

If our defense steps up and holds you guys to under 40, then yes.

The only thing I'm hoping for is that your team is as arrogant as you are.

ANY GIVEN SATURDAY.

I believe that your source looked at TxSt's record last season and came up with an analysis of a 70 pt win, that makes sense. What he doesn't know is what we worked on on our football team this offseason.

I believe you guys could have put 70 on us last season. In the offseason, we picked up Iowa State transfer Drenard Williams, a very good CB and a couple ranked HS recruits that are BIG TIME players. One of our recruits, three star safety Dominick Maddox had offers from Purdue and UTEP, so he is a definite D-I player. Our d-line was ok last season, but I think with the addition of Maddox and Williams our secondary will be much better. I just don't see you guys scoring 70.

We beat Sam Houston the same year you did, in 2006. This 2008 TxSt team will be much better then that.

Sam Houston defeated the Bobkitties in 2007, 29-28. ;)

Obviously, this Bobkittie has gotten into some really good pot down there in San Marcos because he's very, very 'high'.
