When at the Port of Call in No, check out their specialty drink called the Monsoon. You won't realize how good it is until you stand up.

Actually, I had a very similar experience many, many, many moons ago...something about Texas tea...grapefruit juice...everclear...whoa...somehow the floor came racing up to my face...don't think I want to do that again. Thanks all the same for the idea.

I had a similar experience with Texas Tea. I think I'm a bigger guy than you were at the time.

No doubt, but regardless, I had about three of those in very quick order...don't think my size one way or the other would have mattered...I was dead meat...period.

I believe that burger got 1st or 2nd in the official burger wars rankings, if you want to scroll back 100 pages or so.

Revisited Dairy-Ette on Ferguson across from Bishop Lynch high school. Great burger and fries - home made root beer, too. It's like stepping back into the 1950's..............

We make it a point to try finding the best burgers at each of the away SMU football games.
I've already mentioned Port of Call in New Orleans (Tulane).
The other places we are traveling to in 2008 are:
Rice in Houston
Texas Tech in Lubbock
Navy in Annapolis, MD
UCF in Orlando, FL
UTEP in El Paso
What are the "best" burger locations in each of those cities?
Does anyone have a suggestion?

Lubbock: Gardski's burgers are not bad...restaurant itself I remember best for a good cold beer.

I heard today about an excellent burger joint in Irving off Story Road. I believe the place is called Burger Island.
Is anyone familiar with this place and provide a five star rating?

I've never been in one, but I've had the burger. It's not amazing. Upper fast food level. Think something on the level of Taco Cabana of hamburgers.
I don't know if Burger Island comes with homeless people walking in the dining room and asking if you are going to finish your food, however.

Thanks for the Burger Island feedback.
I thought people quit caring about burgers because of the recent beef scare.
I still think two of the best burger hot spots in the area belongs to Angry Dog and Twisted Root down in Deep Ellum.

I'm not some yankee. I'll stop caring about beef when it kills me.
