4 words for you: Ann Richards, Baylor alum

Definitely should have a home & home series with them at least once every 5 years. Would prefer us to mix up our OOC schedule with at least one big 12 team every year in the long run. Guess it depends on what our plans are with Tech. I want to beat those guys in Lubbock at least one time before we end that series.

Actually, it was Bob Bullock, who at the time was the Comptroller of Texas, threatened to withhold state funds from the Texas and Texas A&M education systems.

Bob Bullock was Lt. Governor at the time. Arguably the most powerful political position in Texas.

Sorry for the misinformation. Bullock was the Lt. Governor from 1991 to 1999 which would include when the Big XII was formed in 1994. He was the comptroller for so long that I always forget he served as Lt. Govenor. This makes even more sense that he could withhold funding of the Texas and A&M systems. It also didn't hurt that Ann Richards, also a Baylor alum, was the Govenor at the time.

So how do we get control of the Govenor and Lt. Govenor offices to force the Big XII to dump Baylor and take SMU? Talk amongst yourselves.
Just send 'da money.

I had always heard that Bullock was a TT alum. Thats how TT got into the Big 12.

I think he was Tech undergrad, Baylor law. Both he and Gov. Richards put the Bears in the Big 12 as I understand it.

I agree with those who say Baylor, along with TCU, should be on our schedule every year...and it would be nice if Baylor wanted to play their former SWC private school mates every year...but from Baylor's perspective, I could see where they would want to rotate SMU and TCU and mix Rice in as well. I will always advocate TCU EVERY year and if necessary, schedule UNT in the years we can't get Baylor. We should play at least one of those 3 teams at home each year and one on the road. That would leave 1 or 2 openings on the schedule every year for other former SWC mates or other known schools (Navy, TTech, OK St, Ark, Ole Miss and Missou are all programs who have agreed to home/home series. We just need to get to the point where we don't need to schedule I-AA teams but we all know that means being able to see 25-30k seats in Ford at full price
