I'm guessing Memphis is homecoming. Looking at the schedule, I may try and make all of the road games...except UTEP...have no desire to go to El Paso...well, if we are in the bowl hunt, I may make that one as well.

Sept. 27 - at Tulane
Oct. 4 - at UCF
Oct. 11 - TULSA
Oct. 18 - HOUSTON
Oct. 25 - at Navy

Nov. 15 - at UTEP
Nov. 29 - SOUTHERN MISS

I'm cool with playing Rice before Texas State - nice to have a conference team with no film of the Jones offense with SMU personnel running it.

Bet Houston is nice and comfortable on a Friday night in August.

This is the perfect opportunity for SMU to go undefeated in the month of August. Plus we get to showcase Jones on National TV without other broadcast competition. It may be hot and it may not be a traditional fall opener but it sure provides us with opportunities early.

Boy-oh-boy! I can't wait. Only six months and 3 days away!

I have no problem with playing Rice first. Great to play them tooth an nail and hopefully pull out a win. Then Texas State, no guarantees, but should be a nice game to get the offense oiled.

Would sure be nice to roll into Lubbock with a two game win streak.

Labor Day weekend...also opening weekend of dove season...for those of you who love the sand & surf, you can make a whole weekend of it...go to the game Friday and then on down to Galveston for the weekend...book your rooms early, though...Labor Day is the last 'hurrah' for the hotels and merchants before winter...should be lots of college kids hanging out on the beach that weekend...I'll make the trip to Houston to witness the first game of the JJ era! BEAT THE HELL OUTTA RICE!

At least their empty sets will be displayed on National TV rather than ours.

mrydel: do you plan to travel to Houston for the first game of the JJ era? There are LOTS of stores for your wife to shop in at The Galleria while you're at the game! ;)

HEY SID.....

Knowing they are all subject to change, do we have any tentative kickoff times yet for those of us that have to make arrangements to come in from out of town? I like to book my flights when the fares are lowest.

The last time we were down there, we had more fans than they did - or at least it felt like it until the 4th and 1 at the 1.

Besides the Metroplex (Dallas-Fort Worth), isn't the largest contingent of SMU alumni in the state in Houston? Seems like a no-brainer to get a lot of those folks out for this game and try to outnumber the Rice Owl fans!

No stretches of three road games in a row. While there is a stretch of 5 weeks in a row against bowl teams, I don't view that as "brutal." If there is anything that gives you pause about this schedule it is that SMU plays 9 weeks without a bye.

We'll set those in the next few weeks. CSTV still has some games to pick, so we need to wait and see what they choose. I'll post them here as soon as we set them.
