Harry,
I admire your moxie. Here's the problem though: our seats are blue. Even if every single person that came to the game wore white, it still wouldn't look like a white out because there will be lots of gaps that are blue. White outs work when people are shoulder to shoulder in a stadium. Even with Memphis in town, I just don't expect there to be enough volume to make the white out look effective.
Also, truth be told, with few exceptions most of the white outs or other coordinated fan action you see on tv are the result of the school handing out the requisite colored shirts for free to the people who come to the game -- not by just telling them to wear that color. Did you see the effort to "think pink" a couple of weeks ago? If they really wanted a sea of pink, they would have handed out the shirts for free instead of charging $10 bucks for them. Instead it was sporadic bits of pink.
Not to mention the fact that SMU fans just have no real history of doing anything communally to support the team. I mean, most people look at you like you're nuts if you start a cheer, instead of actually joining in. I really do think that SMU fans (and Dallas fans in general) just have no clue what it's like (or should be like) to attend a sporting event where the fans actually participate.
