JJ's teams normally struggle more early in the season because it takes awhile for the offense to get going. That is why I always liked how UH tended to backload their schedule, as the team would normally be on a roll at the end of a season.

Since that was the case in most years with numerous returnees each year, I can't imagine the offense clicking on all cylinders with nobody on the team having experience with JJ's offense. The defense will probably take a little while to get going under the new defensive coordinator, but the offense would take even longer I believe.

Incorrect. Rice has won at SMU 5 times in that same time period, most recently in 2003. So they won here for the first time in.... 4 years. Since we go back and forth every 2 years, that hardly seems significant.
