Visitors to camp June JonesStopping by recently to visit with JJ, former NFL quarterback Jeff George, and T.O. Terrell Owens.
Re: Visitors to camp June Jones
Let's just hope those two aren't part of the "new attitude" on campus ![]()
This is great that we have current and former NFL players visiting our practices. The pub is great for recruiting.

Roy Williams and Terence Newman OK, I get the connection for Jeff George - they hated each other for a while, but they were together for several years in Atlanta. What's Coach Jones' connection to T.O.? "What kind of weirdo school are they running over there in Fort Worth?"

I can't remember exactly, but I think JJ ended up waiving George, then effectively lost his HC job with the Falcons over it. Somehow, George got his life or attitude together and they have become good friends.
Sort of... in 1996, week 3, the Falcons were hosting the Eagles. This was the game, in the 3rd period, where George and June had the infamous argument... which really wasn't a big deal compared to how many others we've seen that were far worse. But... in order to show there were no favourites on the team, JJ suspended George. Initially, for just a week... then it grew to two weeks, then the season. Falcons finished 3-13... George, a free agent at season's end, signed with Oakland and June was fired. And George wasn't a cancer everywhere he went... he did some good things with Atlanta, but in Minnesota, he took over for a struggling Randall Cunningham when the Vikes were 2-4, and led them to an 8-2 mark and a playoff win over Dallas, before losing to the Rams 37-49... a game that saw George throw 4 TD's and over 400 yards. George finished 2nd to Kurt Warner that year in passer rating. ![]()
Favre was with ATL for the 1991 season, June Jones' first as Asst. Head Coach (under Jerry Glanville)
