Parking Passes for SMU football

Postby One Trick Pony » Sat May 17, 2008 4:28 am

What is the general consensus on a parking pass for games?

A Pay in the cash parking lots at $15.00?
B Buy a season ticket parking pass in the new garage for $25.00 a game?
C Get a boulevard spot next to Dallas hall and remote parking pass for $450.00?
D Something I have not listed.

My original thought was to go with C. However I understand that the Mustang football club is now going to be offering up a tailgate on the blvd for all home games. Any experienced insight would be appreciated.

My understanding is that paid parking passes are pretty much 100% accounted for, and there is a waiting list.

Park on one of the neighborhood streets across Mockingbird for free (Drexel, St Johns, Abbott). A shorter walk to the stadium/the Blvd than what you'd have at 95% of other D1 venues across the US.

I know for a fact that the new garage has a ton of parking left according to
my rep for tickets @ SMU.

I don't think there is a whole lot of up side to paying $25.00 to park there vs free or $15.00 in the cash lot.
I will just have to drink a beer and make a move lol.

I was checking out yahoo maps on the free parking you were talking about this looks like a good idea. And you wont get towed?

Mockingbird station has two large parking garages, one under the Angelika and one with an entrance off the 75 access road, next to West Elm. I work in that office building and last season there was no one parking in there on game day, even though it is open to the public. Then it is just a short walk over 75 to the stadium.

And it's free.

You know I'm not particularly a fan of the parking garage directly West of the Stadium. You have to manuver thru conjested streets and pedestrians too much-slows you down. I really prefer the garage North of Moody since I'm likely to hit the Boulevard anyway. The Parking East of Ford is good too and easy to get out of.

I found the best way is to slip a student a beer and have them get you into the parking garage on airline.

This will make eight years without getting towed. If they were to undertake such an endeavor, there would be a LOT of towing.

There is also the option of parking in an open lot at Mockingbird Station and taking the shuttle over next to Moody. Generally we will do that going to the game, and the just walk back over 75 afterward.

I have also done the HP neighborhood parking and had no problems...depending on when you get there it might be just as far away as walking from Mockingbird. I also know someone high up in HP Public Safety that has said there is no problem with parking on the streets as long as no driveways or fire hydrants are blocked (obviously).

Park free at Mockingbird Station and take the
free DART shuttle buses that drop you off at Moody.
It's really hard to beat the price!

By far the best option I have found. If you are too good to ride the bus, the walk is not far.

I believe my parking pass for the Westcott lot next to Ford and about 50 yards from the gate was $150 but who keeps count! I walk from there to tailgate with BUS.
