Another reason to wear the all whites is that they are are much cooler than darker unis. In Texas even in the evening that can make a difference. We wore down so often in the 4th quarter. Anything to get an edge.

Nacho fails to realize that even if the heat factor is true (and I do not buy it for a second when talking about a few hours of football) that half of our games are away. Based on his "totally right" we are sending our kids to their death on August 29 in Houston. It gets hot wherever you play in the south in August and usually September, home or away.

Doesn't matter. They all die of heat in Houston. And I think the folks in Lubbock consider themselves part of the south.

my point in supporting nacho's assertion is based on the fact that yes it is hot and humid in the south in August and September, more than anywhere else, which makes the subtlety of a white v. blue/red uni more pronounced...i think it would be naive to think that our boys are going to some how be hurt by the color change or gain some huge advantage because they have been training the in summer heat anyway, but the fact is wearing white in a day game will indeed lessen the impact of the sun.

And man is responsible for global warming. I guess we all need to start wearing white.

Put me in the desert to live and I want white. On a football field in August, day or night, it is just plain hot. The color is a very minor factor.

In 1978, SMU wore only white uniforms both home and away games. Prior to that, SMU wore red jerseys at home. After that one season of ‘78, SMU wore blue jerseys at home. The schedules were the same except in '78 SMU played two early games in the North (Penn State and Ohio State).

Based on personal experience (not scientific by any measure) the color of jersey makes no difference in endurance, heart tolerance or fatigue. What did seem to make the difference was player depth. Having wore all three colors for home games, my personal preference is blue.

However, if we win I will accept any color we wear. With the color change, we will look pretty no matter what home jersey color we wear. Now we need to make the real transition to winning.

Again, and slowly this time just for you Nacho. If I am living in the desert, I want white clothes. 3 hours on a football field where in most cases you have artificial turf at 130 degrees, the white uniform is very insignificant. It is like sticking your hand into a pot of water at 225 degrees or 230 degrees. Both cases are hot and damaging. The difference is extremely insignificant. It will not make a difference in the game. I guess the whole reason for our recent losing has been the blue helmets that fried our kids brains. Now that we have white helmets we will be able to think better.

BTW, does Mr. Physics know that Lubbock is in the south?

1975--4-7
1976--3-8
1977--4-7
1978--4-6-1
1979--5-6

Since we were pretty bad all those years I'm not sure that is a valid scientific study of the physics of unis.

We did go 8-4 and then 10-1 the following years when we had some very talented players. I think one of them was Dickerson who would have probably been great wearing scuba gear.

More importantly, what color Speedo should the swimmers and divers wear? Each men's swim suit brief cost $1,000, so we can't have all three colors. Decisions, decisions?

Aside from the heat issue I simply like the white unis at home. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. White also makes us look bigger.
