Bobby Chase update

Ran into No. 82 today - the recipient of The Catch in Birmingham looks even stronger than he did when he played here.

Now that he has graduated, he's keeping alive his hopes of a playing career. He has latched on with the Amarillo Dusters (http://www.dustersfootball.com/) of Arena Football II. He said he joined the team four games ago, and after getting used to the differences in the indoor game, he has adjusted. His last game was his best, with 99 yards of receptions to earn Player of the Game honors (not sure if that's by coaches, media, etc.)

He said Vincent sounds very excited about the SMU season and the new coaches, and he's eager to join PonyFans at Ford Stadium this fall.

Way to go Bobby. You've got the rest of your life to wear a suit and tie, chase your dream while you still can. Looking forward to seeing you on the BLVD and at Ford this Fall.

bobby is a great guy... ran into him at the spring game and seemed to be in great shape... if he was a little bit faster he would be a legit NFL prospect

We have an Arena II team here in Little Rock, the Arkansas Twisters. Already played the Dusters twice this year. If he is still with them next year I will go and watch him.

BTW, at the Duster web site it says that their FB/RB was shot and killed in West Va. I guess this is current news unless they do not update their site often.

I checked further and the murdered player was Donte Newsome who played his college ball at Marshall so I guess he was on the field against us. He was shot Saturday and they have arrested the alleged shooter.

Don't know about their site. Bobby has been on the team for four games, and there's no mention of him yet.

The kid that was killed last played at Marshall in 2004 which was our last year in WAC so we did not face him. Still kind of sad.

I think the site is probably maintained in the same manner as Arena II which is a little bit on shoestrings right now.
