I'm still being told through my ND connections (my friend gets info directly from his high ND friends - take the info with that grain of salt) that Orsini is a top 3 candidatebecause of his potential, but his lack of success at a BCS program thus far is one of the main reasons he is not the #1 choice. They really like what he has done, but it hasn't translated into wins at SMU yet and is seen as slightly maverick. (?) They are trying to go for a proven BCS AD as the first choice before considering "up and comers".

Well, if you read the other thread about Orsini staying, you would see that your information is wrong, according to the notre dame insider who said his information is right.

That said, that is one thing in Orsini's background that is suspect. He's done well raising money. But the coaches he has hired have not exactly blown people away.

Again, I'm glad Steve is staying. I just want our programs to turn the corner. He appeared to put people in place that he believes will work. So we'll see.

If the Notre Dame temperature is really about them going after BCS types, then they'll just never get it. They aren't the school they think they are. They are no different from Kansas or Oregon.

As for Patton, he would have probably found a way to make those potatoes pretty dangerous.

i wouldn't even put them on par with Kansas who has managed to win a BCS bowl but it is a wait and see situation like you pointed out....but, i am looking forward to watching
