Army-Navy Game Piques Interest of Cotton Bowl, CowboysRepresentatives from both the Cotton Bowl and the Cowboys expressed preliminary interest Tuesday in bidding to host the Army-Navy football game.
Naval Academy athletic director Chet Gladchuk told the academy's Board of Visitors on July 8 that a bidding process among cities for future Army-Navy games would begin within weeks, according to a story at NavyTimes.com. The published report also stated that the academy is open to corporate sponsorship of the game. State Fair of Texas president Errol McKoy said that he plans to look into the possibility of bringing the annual game to the renovated Cotton Bowl stadium in Fair Park. "I definitely think we'd be interested," McKoy said. "We will get in contact with them. I'll go ahead and make a call." The Cowboys might also be interested in hosting at their new stadium in Arlington. "Army-Navy is certainly the marquee-type event that we are interested in bringing to our stadium," said Cowboys Director of Corporate Communications Brett Daniels, "but we would need to learn more about the schools' requirements for hosting the game." The Army-Navy football game has primarily been played in Philadelphia during the tradition-rich series' 118-year history. Gladchuk told NavyTimes.com that "15, 16, 17 cities will put their oar in the water and actually bid for the game. It could be San Diego; it could be Seattle; it could be the Meadowlands [in East Rutherford, N.J.]. Baltimore has shown interest. It could be Philadelphia or Dallas." One possible major hang-up in attracting the game is a city must agree to pay for transporting the entire Naval Academy and West Point student bodies to the game each year, which could total upwards of $4 million. http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent ... df427.html
If there is one sporting event that I would love attend more than any other, it's this game. I would prefer to go to in Philadelphia, but if it came here, I will be there. Army-Navy is the best rivalry in any sport.
Of course, if we're playing in the CUSA championship game, -- usually both of those games are played the first Saturday in December -- then I'm going to watch us.
its a good thing this city doesn't start wit a S- and end with -eattle or we might be screwed

I agree about Army-Navy. They held the game at the Rose Bowl in 1983 which I was fortunate enough to attend. ![]() Napoleon McCallum ![]() chewed up Army and Navy won the game 42-13. If Dallas gets the game I'm coming. ![]() Great Tradition after the game as well as "the alma maters of the losing team and then the winning team are played and sung. The winning team stands alongside the losing team and faces the losing academy students; then the losing team accompanies the winning team, facing their students. This is done in a show of mutual respect and solidarity." A well written book is titled "A Civil War - Army vs. Navy : A Year Inside College Football's Purest Rivalry" by John Feinstein. A great read. SMU - IT'S YOUR TURN

I'm calling [deleted]. Army/Navy is the most interesting Parade-its not anywhere close to the best Football Rivalry or Football game. Its scheduled to allow people to take naps over Thanksgiving Holidays. ITS BORING as hell. I'd rather watch paint dry. OK here's your que-flag wavers. Has anybody ever watched the entire game w/o falling asleep?
I read the book. Loved every page of it. I remember watching that game at the Rose Bowl. I bet you got there early enough to watch the corps of cadets and brigade of midshipman march into the stadium. It would be an overwhelming sight.
You make it sound like the entire Dave Smith era.
growing up 45 minutes south of West Point, I'd pay a ton of $ if it came here and I was still living in Dallas. Great tradition all around. I've never been to an Army/Navy game, but I watch them each year, and I've been to about a dozen Army Games. Great atmopshere right there.
I've got painters coming to my house tomorrow at 8 a.m. Come on by, Stallion. I'll have a beer waiting for you.
