CUSA Coaches Poll. SMU shut out on First and Second Team All Conference. Morestead was picked as a Punter. Apparently somebody-the Coaches recognize Chase Clement is a quality QB as was picked First Team All-CUSA QB.

Fair rating. They have to go prove it on the field.

We should focus all our efforts on our two must-win games, Texsa State and Tulane. These are must-wins, people.

I couldn't fault anyone for putting us below even lowely Tulane. Anyone who isn't affiliated with SMU shouldn't bet their professional reputation on a quick turnaround. I mean, how do the poor bastards who picked us to win the West last year feel now? Fool me once, shame on you and all that.

its interesting that the CUSA West games we should have the best chance of winning are on the road(Rice Tulane and UTEP). Amazing we couldn't beat one of those teams at Ford last year. The Top teams are at home this year(Tulsa, UH). Navy also a game we can compete athletically with on the road. Its great if you eke out big road victories but only one real gimme on the schedule this year.

Surprised Emmanuel Sanders was left off the list, especially with the numbers he is likely to put up this year.

Here's a link to the CUSA Receiving Stats. I think Trae Johnson at Tulsa might also have a beef. He's outstanding too. Sanders ypc was a little down from the others but really the conference is filled with some deserving candidates. Although Marion only had 39 catches-remember that was 31.8 ypc.Yikes

It was the same C-USA West scheduling that should have gotten us to a Bowl in '06. We split the home games, and just needed two of the three "easier" road games. As the league stands now we should have feast or famine, but instead we never get enough to eat.

No, more like hitting Jimmy John's with two bucks in your pocket; you're not going to starve but you sure as hell ain't getting enough to eat. That was 2006, and it'll be an uphill fight to get that out of 2008.

Plus we get 3 bowl teams from the East. All in all about as difficult as a CUSA schedule as you could get trying to get out of the cellar-except we don't get ECU I guess-so we got that going for us.
