How about we get one of the stray cats around campus and nickname him "Oscar" and on gameday, we let him loose on the opposing team's coach?

Let the naming contest begin among my fellow ponyfans! Best answer wins some SMU swag from my collection. Deadline will be next Wednesday night at midnight.
The contest awards committee worked long and hard into the wee hours of the morning after last night's midnight deadline to select a winner. We are pleased to announce that the name for the new tradition at SMU will be "Unshod Ponies" as submitted by ponyfans poster, redpony! Congratulations, redpony! Your SMU swag will soon be in the mail to you! Thanks to everyone who entered the 'unofficial' contest and remember: Show up on gameday as an 'Unshod Ponyfan' in support of JJ & the Mustangs! :)

Fellow Pony Fans....

You have great intentions...but COLLEGE FOOTBALL TRADITIONS just happen, they are not created...

Sitting around and trying to figure out a "new tradition" just doesn't cut it.

The twelth man down at Nurmeburg land happened because someone decided to stand up and be ready....They didn't get together and say neato keano let's all stand up.

The sacred cow song happened because the student body was made at the adminstration and sang "The Eyes of Texas" to she'll be workin' on the railroad..They didn't get together and say "let's make a 'new' tradition.'

Our fight song Peruna happened because some lady decided to play an advertisement for an elixer at a pep rally because we didn't have a fight song.

SMU people just don't get it....If something happens on the spur of the moment THEN start doing that...then you MIGHT have a tradition.

Apparently, you've never read the story of UT's "Hook 'em" hand sign

I always thought the 'hook 'em' sign was to show the 'giggies' that they could use two fingers to salute instead of just one like you salute a 'giggie'..
