It’s a landmark day for the Orangebloods.com family.
After years of battling him for scoop on the Longhorn football beat, I’m proud to announce that Dallas Morning News beat reporter/columnist Chip Brown is joining the Orangebloods/Rivals family after spending more than a decade at one of the top newspapers in the entire nation.
Although Brown will be contributing content that will be displayed across the Yahoo network, his primary task will be to cover the Texas Longhorns football team for OB . After years of being classified as a “recruiting siteâ€

At least his burnt orange kneepads are well broken in. Should be a good fit.

We've been getting that type of UT coverage for free, from the DMN.

Chip probably got out because he could sense another round of layoffs/buyouts coming from the DMN. That paper is falling apart.

I know, and it's ashame. However much we might gripe about the lack of SMU coverage, as Dallasites (me a former Dallasite) we truly once had one of the finer papers in the country, and the best in the southwest.
Even a few years back, visiting Denver, I picked up a Denver Post and was appauled at how bad it was, being reared on the Morning News. The DMN weakens everday, yes the interweb is here to sustain us, but it's a sad thing to see a once great paper whither evermore with every passing season.
(And by season, I mean those Fall, Winter, Spring, Summer things.)

Ha. That paper was a bigger joke than the Morning News. The Dallas Times Herald had copies on the street reporting Kennedy's assassination first. And that was no joke.
