I'm slightly more optimistic than they are...4-8. A successful season is whatever gets us into a bowl.
I have to agree that the key to a successful season is the defense. If the D improves and makes a few critical stops here and there, we have a chance to have a successful season. If our defense plays down to last year's effort, then we are in for a very long season. The other is turnovers. Turnovers killed scoring chances and placed our defense in difficult situations time and time again. Cut down on turnovers, and we give our defense a better chance to improve.
Somewhere between 4 and 8 wins.
Of course, this same outfit said SMU was going to win seven games in 2007. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
How many games did we loose last season in the last 2 minutes or overtime? 5? I say Jones could have won those games so a 5-6 win season is not unrealistic.
I actually picked SMU to play in the conference ship last year pre-season.
I have watched first hand a team rated at nearly the bottom of all college football a few years ago in defense. Get a couple of freshman one JC and a DEFENSIVE COACH CHANGE and win. I believe will get six win this year! You have to believe it before you can achieve it. And if we don’t there is always beer. ![]()
I agree. D is key. And the turnovers will be important also, although I concede that the R&S may result in a few more picks, but as long as TDs greatly exceed the picks we'll be ok.
Like I said on another thread, the D is going to be completely different this year, and that will put the onus on the opposition to beat it. I know that we lack depth, and that will be a problem, especially late in games, but if our D makes turnovers (which I really think we are going to see) then it will allow our O better field position, which should result in more scores. I think if our D can get some swagger, it will be able to hold its own on CUSA. I can't WAIT!!!!!!
