Sports Illustrated Rankings SMU-88This is a much higher ranking then every other sports publication that I have seen. We are ahead of Rice, UTEP, UAB, Tulane, and Marsall in C-USA.

Excellent point. I know it's very hard to cheer a # 88 ranking on any poll. I don't think anyone knows where SMU should rank due to the new system of JJ. From what I have seen SMU should be anywhere from 3-10 to 9-4. Hopefully better than 9-4. The team is a good team, the record from last year does not reflect the abilities of this team. Bad coaching decisions took a toll on last years record. Team moral had to take a beating from the TT game. National TV and the defense yelling all in. The UTEP game was so miss managed. With JJ, the attitude of winning should change. SMU could and that is could get to the top 25.
FYI here are the CUSA rankings by each media. Not that it matters, but we all still pay attention.

Wait your turn. Just send 'da money.
Candidly, 88 makes sense (if not day one) by mid-season or earlier. The teams below us will be expected to be there over time. Only Air Force and Syracuse have track records of performing at a higher level consistently. 87 to 1 teams (primarily BCS teams) are there for a reason, i.e. money, budget, fan base, etc.
We need to crash the party in three years or less. Pony Up
Phil Steele is literally a college football god. If you have not bought/read/heard about his preview book (and I mean it's a book), you need to seriously pick it up if you consider yourself a cf fan. It is the most in depth, detailed analysis of all 119 teams. I trust his opinion especially when he has the ponies 5th. I'll take it
Go look at Dukes recruiting class for 09. It is looking good for a change. They also could be on the trail back. Sent from my KOREAN knockoff using Tapdance 5
