There seems to be lots of concern about the O right now. I keep reading about ints and dropped passes. Seems like the D is all over the O. I'm starting to lose confidence about the Rice game. I wouldn't be surprised if we lost. I'm getting that same old SMU feeling.

I have no expectation for the Rice game. I'm just excited for football season to start, and to see our new coaching staff in action.

I've been saying the whole time that Rice is a probable loss. Jones' history with a new QB shows the first game or two to be very very shaky.

It tastes better when served from a Bowl (game)!

Both the O and D are learning a lot with the new schemes and all. I am sure if they played an actual scrimmage, things would be differant.
Heck, for all we know the coaches may be calling plays that forces the QB to make an ill advised throw just so the D can make a play or two, and build their confidence as well! JJ said he wants them to be aggressive, and for the players to do that they need to be confidant.

When was the last time you had confidence?

Good for you. Take it one game at a time.

I'm surprised they're predicting us to beat Houston and Southern Miss but lose to Memphis and UTEP. I would think predicting wins against the Tigers and the Miners would be a safer guess.
Those who complain about a problem are simply wasting time they could use to fix it.

The first game I HOPE we win. I hope we fight hard and give RICE all we have. But there may be mistakes and that is what will cost us.
If we do not have a TON of mistakes we can win. If our D gets to the RICE QB we can win.
See you all in Houston.
This is just the first battle in a long war.

This would be a perfect time for someone to link that Saturday Night Live skit featuring Debbie Downer.

It is usual for the defense to be ahead of the offense at this point. That would include established programs. The offense usually catches up to the defense about 1-2 weeks prior to the first game.

If coaching were easy then we would be in top form by the first game. Since it is not expect steady improvement instead of instant wonders.
