What a shame. I agree 100% with Stallion that anyone other than Willis means 2-3 wins this year, tops. I realize this is a building year, but I think that could put a pretty heavy damper on the JJ excitement.
If he is not the starter he needs to transfer and save his career. I can't even believe we're having this discussion.
I'm sorry but if we're starting a freshman you can pretty much kiss this season goodbye. I love the ponies but I refuse to go watch another year of losing regardless of who happens to be wearing the headset.
I'm thinking Coach Jones knows a little bit more about evaluating the personnel he needs to implement his offense than the know-it-alls who gripe about the depth chart. Justin Willis excelled in another "offense"... this one requires some additional skills that were not a part of the Rusty Burns sandlot playbook. June Jones will make decisions that put our team in the best position to win. If Justin plays "alligator", best of luck. This is no time to moan and groan.

once again Bergermeister shows wisdom that is usually correct! although it will only get worse in the short run if Justin isn't the quarterback and we lose to Rice or others. Can already hear it "oh why-o-why did we bench or get rid of such a great QB like Justin?"....."oh we'd be 3-1 with Justin" blah blah blah.....Berger stay tuned for the second guessers!.....They know more than June!.....LOL C-ya @ Milos!
Agree! Known pluses for Willis - he has experience, he is a competitor, he is athletic. Known weaknesses - he played under Burns, he has been impatient and had happy feet. Unknown - has he unlearned the bad habits and has he learned what it takes to excel in Jones offense Those who think that without Willis we will have a worse season than with him are basing this primarily on his past performance and a belief that no freshman can do as well. If we still had the old coaches and old system this would be a strong argument. But we don't have the old system. Our new system requires different skills. If Willis cannot adjust to the new system then he might actually be worse than an inexperienced freshman. I trust JJ will do what is best for this year and future years. I am sure if he feels Willis can do the job he will get the nod. The best thing for our freshmen is to redshirt them, unless they are needed now. As I say, I trust JJ and his 30 years of successful coaching experience at all levels more than members of this board who have no coaching experience to pick our QB

Inane, I think you are on to something. For Willis personally, it would not make much sense, if he has any future football aspirations at all, to ride the pine after two record setting seasons as the starter. I think he might transfer to a D-1AA school if he's not named the starter, much less in the top two.
I also forgot that I coached my son when he was in cub scouts. So I do have to revise my comments to JJ's coaching experience outweighs the vast coaching experience of the members of this board. JJ will pick the right guy and we will win, beginning in Houston on the 29th.
