My wife reads constantly. A couple of weeks ago she had finished her latest book and was looking for something to read. I gave her my copy of Warrior Football and told her to read it since we would be taking the trip to the Navy game and she needed to at least be able to communicate with the other folks that would be going. She just rolled her eyes and said ok. She finished it in a couple of days and that is all she talks about. JJ is her new hero.
When will I start feeling stimulated??

listen, don't expect June Jones to do to SMU what he did for Hawaii. It just isn't gonna happen. With HAwaii, June Jones had the only show in town, here SMU is on the bottom of the "food Chain"in Dallas. 85% of the Hawaiian community was behind UH and June Jones. After all, he played at UH. His wife(former) was from Hawaii. So he had ties than ran deep into the Hawaiian community too which help. With Texas all he has was old ties to Houston, and an on going feud with Mack Brown.
Will June Jones be the answer SMU alum have been waiting so long for? I doubt it! Personally, I don't think Jones will last the life of his SMU contract.
"Run & Poop"offense is now at SMU

WRONG! JJ will do here, what he did at Hawaii. This is his once chance to show the NCAA world and maybe the NFL that he has what it takes to coach at the NFL level again or at a top BCS school. this will be an Urban Meyer type task for him.

"Bottom of the food chain" Texas recruits are far superior to "cream of the crop" Hawaii recruits.

that statement's a little strong. lots of NFL talent comes out of their tiny population, they just go to PAC 10 teams, not Hawaii

I was talking about Texas, not the NCAA! More direct Dallas. You have the Cowboys, an NBA Team in Dallas, and how many colleges in the area?
That is what I was talking about SMU being on the bottom of the food chain.

SMU is the only major college in the Dallas area with NCAA FBS sports teams.

July Jones (funny)...to echo JTS's post, the following appears at the bottom of each news release from the SMU Athletic Dept.:
SMU, the only Division I athletic program in Dallas, Texas, sponsors 17 sports and has been ranked as the top school in its conference for 10 of the last 11 years in the Director's Cup overall athletic rankings. More information about SMU and its coaches, student-athletes and teams is available at www.SMUMustangs.com.

bitter, you gotta be joking, right? What you got as a head coach is a "Liar", and now he's your problem! Trust me, June Jone's dirty laundry will sooner or later be front page Dallas news. I'm sure Dallas has good investigative reporters with the local media? In no time you backers will be the first to throw JJ under the bus too! Mark my words! On the gridiron side of things you'll get tired of 3rd and inches and Jones calls for a pass, and he'll do that 9 outta ten times! Even if you have a 1,000 yd a season tailback! After awhile teams lay in wait for that. But Jones ego makes him keep doing it! You get tired of watching these kids lose games that they should have won. You'll also watch good defensive recruits get away too. JJ doesn't care about that side of the ball. In due time you'll understand that too.
On the bright side of things. Under June Jones you can expect to see more SMU players go into the NFL draft in one season than any other time. That is a plus for players hoping to turn this in to a job on Sundays.
I was also reading somewhere were there were concerns that J. Jones might be using SMU as a 'stepping stone',on the way back to the NFL. I seriously doubt that! Actually I don't think Jones will extend his contract with SMU either. If he holds true to his words, if he makes it through the life of the SMU contract. He said he'd return to Hawaii( Kona), to retire to his new home there next to his best friend.
Keep in mind too Jones offense, the "Run & Shoot". He is a technical genius,I'll give him that! But because of that fact, his ego gets his in more trouble than not!
Does the "Run & Shoot" make for good 'System Quarterbacks' but little else? Only time will tell, but history leans heavily towards failure with the majority of QB's failing to make the conversion from Saturday to Sunday. You all remember David Klinger(Texas Tech), he was a system QB too!
Jones will turn the program around, but don't count on him taking SMU to the promiseland in one or two seasons. Hawaii was a way different situation.
"Run & Poop"offense is now at SMU
