What is your take on special teams?

They'er being coached now for the first time in 6 years, so they can't help but improve.

    Only problem I might have, is this. Can't stand QBs lining up in the shot gun when on the 2 yard line.

We should have 100% more wins than last year at least. Not sure against whom, but there are some teams in CUSA who have pass defenses that have to be as bad as our defense was last year.

Is that your official prediction-2 wins? I hope that is not an expectation.

A prediction IS an expectation. I still expect to win five, btw.

c'mon jtstang, he did at "at least" at the end, so his expectations are at least 2 wins, nothing less but maybe more

You won't see that. Typically when Hawaii was inside the five Colt would line up under center...

One thing I think many of you are overlooking is the fact that the Run & Shoot is also designed to have long drives... which can help with the time of possession and aid your defense.

Everything depends on how well your guys pick up the offense. If they are getting it, you should see at least 30 points per game and even long, sustained drives in the fourth quarter, especially if you are in a see-saw battle and need to give your D a rest...

We pass too much!

We need to run more. We need a balanced attack.

If we had a tightend in there, the offense would be better!

The defense is spending too much time on the field and getting too tired. We need the offense to run the ball more. We are losing the time of possesion battle.

Everytime we pass, three things can happen and two off them are bad.

What! Two yards to score a TD and we passed the ball! THREE TIMES!!!

I guess I should explain that these comments are the same comments that Hawaii fans have been making for the past 9 years. Well maybe 8 years. Last year, no one complained, except until JJ went to SMU. LOL.

Well that settles it: Obviously JJ loves to hear complaints. Everyone complain so he'll never leave!

or people that have had bad football programs have their fans complain 24/7, even with success

Hey if we have geometric progress, we'll have 2 wins this year, 4 next year and 8 the following year. After that, it will have to be more modest. By the way, on the prediction thread, I think I had us 6-6 before the QB change. After the QB change, that signals that perhaps this team is not as good as I thought it was, so maybe 4-8.

Hold on there partner!!!

There were complaints but they were in the very tiny minority but vocal and stuckout like a sore thumb. Just the same crackpots every season who think they know better than JJ and were so full of it.

So remember! JJ does not like to hear complaints, especially stupid complaints. But he is a coach and a pro and knows that is part of the job and the business. It is always good when the public supports the players and the coaches. After all, it is the people's team.

One thing. In Hawaii, the Hawaii Warriors are the State's team. It is the only major sports team in the State of Hawaii and that is why the people of Hawaii consider it THEIR team. Even the crack pots. There are no pro teams in Hawaii like on the mainland so the Warrior football team are treated like a Pro Team at times. That means the criticism can be critical and unfair at times. The Hawaii home crowd at times booed Timmy Chang, their own local boy. This kind of surprised and pissed off the coaching staff in their first year. One of our coaches got into a shouting match with some drunk Hawaii fans after a homefield loss. So you can understand that Hawaii's football team is at times treated like a pro team. Especially when they don't make the spread. LOL.

In Hawaii, JJ was more popular and had more support than the Governor of Hawaii and the Mayor of Honolulu.
