And you just are not an SMU fan if you dont like Peruna. Nuff said.
Agreed. Although I do get a good laugh over the ones that have no business running the pony getting dragged down the field. What can I say? I have a warped sense of humor.
That's what we like about you.

That's correct. This can't be true since Sewell, Ford and the other big boys didn't pass through ponyfans asking for donations.
Also, the Mustang club didn't pass the hat at the Kickoff Luncheon so there is now way we could afford a damn horse (when we paid JJ 2mil.).

I still haven't gotten my answer as to what you do with a full sized unbroken horse at a football game. Or are you suggesting that we put a rider on it, or make it completely docile?

I haven't seen too many wild animal mascots at football games. Could make it interesting.

If you want better handlers, you need to convince more people to try out.
The donkey's name is Kiki.
On a side note, anybody need a patent attorney?

I'd rather have a small fiesty horse you can do stuff with, instead of a large normal horse that'll just try to munch field turf all game. At least Peruna is unique. Everyone in the world has a normal horse. Unless we're prepared to go all the way with a true MUSTANG, and the insuring injuries and lawsuits, than this whole discussion is stupid. If the aggies can get by with a stupid little dog I think we can get by with Peruna.

If we do get a Mustang, maybe we could sell Peruna to the Aggies and tell them he a black lab.

He sort of looked like a black lab when they stole him and shaved his tail.

The day we have somebody riding our mascot is the day we change our name to the SMU Horses. You don't ride a mustang, miniature or not.

"Uh, did we say shetland PONY? We meant shetland COLLIE..."
Aggies: "Ooooh, yeah ok then."
Honestly folks, besides the teams with riders on horses (FSU, Tech, OkState, UCF, etc), there are very few LIVE ANIMAL mascots. Then throw in that ours is NOT in a cage (LSU...) or passed out/drugged up on the sideline (UT), I think it's a pretty darn cool tradition. But what do I know, I don't have pen1s envy over mascots with my state school friends.

No need to pass money for a horse - because there is no need for a horse. This is not worth discussing. Every time we fool with tradition we end up throwing up something that looks stupid - and ends up not sticking. A run-of-the-mill horse ala zoro the gay blade in Lubbock - standing around in the endzone - is just dumb.
