If Bartel plays well then the team could retain him for the practice squad again...i know it may not seem like much but I wish him the best Thursday night
i've known bartel since i was 14, the only thing holding him back is his head....
side note and one of the most interesting things that has come out of "hard knocks" is the story on Martellus Bennett... From the article: Witten's tough love: Veteran tight end Dan Campbell didn't do Jason Witten any favors when he first arrived in the NFL. Witten treats rookie Martellus Bennett the same way. Witten said Bennett must understand that this is a job. The former Texas A&M standout must show that he's serious about becoming a good player. Only then will Witten step in and show Bennett how to take the next step. "He says it all the time, 'Jason doesn't like me,' " Witten said. "I'm going to let him figure it out. He's got to figure it out first, and when he does, obviously that's when I come along." I never liked Bennett at A&M, even though he was a superior athlete. MB has some serious attitude problems, and seems unwilling to adjust to life as a professional athlete. I realize that he would have been a first round pick next year, but he has a lot to learn if he wants to make it in the Not For Long.
The guy never comes off as being serious about his work on Hard Knocks. It's like he doesn't even respond to his coaches...verbally or physically. I don't get why we took him in the 2nd anway...we should have traded up for Limas Sweed or another WR. Guess that's what happens when you have the worst GM in football. I'm predicting Felix Jones will be a bust also...Julius part II.
felix can't be the bust that julius was because we're not asking him to be a starting RB. i think he'll be good - maybe not as great as some are saying but good and way better than julius... mr. 1.2 yards per carry
Felix can't break tackles at all - one hit and he's down. I think he'll be a guy that can catch screen passes or the short dump offs, but he'll never even be an adequate RB between the tackles
"Guess that's what happens when you have the worst GM in football"
What a crock! So if Jerry Jones with 3 Super Bowl Rings, a brand new state of the art stadium, a team that went 13-3 in the regular season last year is the worst GM in football, what are all the other GM's that have failed to even appear in one Super Bowl? Who are all these other great current GM's that have a better botton line? ![]() C-ya @ Milos!
OK, and if Jerry Jones were able to be fired as GM, do you think there's a single team out there that would hire him based on his abilities in that capacity? This is the guy that reached 3 rounds on Quincy Carter, traded two 1st rounders for Joey Galloway, and who (along with Parcells) passed on Stephen Jackson for Julius Jones and what ended up being a very mediocre Marcus Spears....not to mention the last 10 seasons of horrible football prior to last year. Don't forget what preceeded the 13-3 season last year. Were it not for the Detroit Lions and Arizona Cardinals, the Cowboys might have been the worst-run team in the NFL from the late 90s to the early 2000s. And GMs don't get stadiums built, owners do. I'm not knocking him as an owner - only as a GM.
If you graded GM's solely on their mistakes, they would all get "F's."
At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
Look at the 1995-2002 drafts (pre-Parcells, who also had terrible drafts in 04 and 06) and tell me there is anything but an F there. And don't tell me Roy Williams was a good pick - he's the most over rated player in football. Flozell, Ellis, and a couple others were the only hits he had during that whole time. http://www.databasefootball.com/draft/d ... DAL&lg=nfl Jerry gets an F for his tenure here as GM. Any other GM would have been fired after doing as poorly as this team has since 1996.
If the salary cap is lifted, Dan-O Snyder will get to match him $$$$ for $$$$. Snyder is the guy who blew his salary cap on some of the most worthless free agents known to man, like Bruce "I got a sack this year" Smith. Luckily when Gibbs came on board, he told Dan to play with his theme park and let Gibbs do the heavy lifting. But then again Gibbs traded several draft choices for Jason Campbell who had not been very impressive so far.
