The Owls struggled defensively in 2007, finishing dead last in Conference USA in a number of statistical categories, including the all-important "points allowed" category. But when PonyFans.com caught up with senior offensive lineman Tommy Poynter to talk about the Owls' defense, he said the expectation is that the Rice defense will be vastly improved this year.
