William Wade Fox, III was a center and linebacker for SMU from 1951-1953. He was recruited by Doak Walker and followed All-American [deleted] Hightower at center.
He was known on this board as ponylb and sired ponyte.
He was born in Asher, OK on Nov. 18, 1931 and was a resident of Shreveport, La. He attended Southern Methodist University on a football scholarship and was a three year letterman. He earned All Southwest Conference honors as a center and was Honorable Mention for All-American. He earned his Doctorate of Medicine from Emory University and practiced Orthopedic surgery in Shreveport until his retirement. He was a member and Deacon of the First Baptist Church of Shreveport. He loved to hunt and fish. He also performed medical missionary work in Mexico for many years where he performed surgery to many where treatment was unavailable. He was a member of the Shreveport Club, the Shreveport Country Club and the Cotillion Club. He was a Board certified Orthopeadic surgeon and member of the American Medical Association, Louisiana Medical Society, Louisiana Orthopeadic Association, American Academy of Orthopeadic Surgeons, and the American Orthopeadic Foot and Ankle Society.
He is survived by his loving wife Keitha Clement Fox of 53 years; three daughters and one son, Melissa Fox Cassiere and her husband Joe of Monroe, LA, Laura Fox Politz and her husband Paul of New Orleans, LA, Rebecca Fox McDonnell and her husband Michael of Chicago, IL, and Clement Wade Fox and his wife Janie of Little Rock, AR; two sisters Peggy Fox Coates and her husband Harry and Polly Fox Burgess; and his nine beloved granddaughters and one beloved grandson, Rachel and Sarah Cassiere, Rebecca, Catherine, Caroline and Katie Fox, Ashton, Anna, and Wade Politz, and Ashton “Mae Maeâ€

Great guy-and he loved the Mustangs-kept me busy for the better part of the 3rd and 4th Quarter of a blowup a few years ago analyzing the Ponies.

Thanks to all. He suffered from Parkinson's disease and prostate cancer. but he passed in peace. Thanks to Bob Sharp and the SMU athletic department for their kind thoughts.

My sincere condolences ponyte.
SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.
