Yenga is a player

Postby George S. Patton » Sun Sep 07, 2008 12:11 am

Our defensive line is the weakest link but you have to like what Yenga did out there. I thought he was the only one up front who was bringing "consistent" pressure. If you can even call it that. Still, he was active.

But I remember on a 2nd-and-2, he chased down a Texas St. RB from the far side to the near side of the field for a one-yard gain. Very impressive play.

Also, he did a great job knifing through on the first Texas St. TD to block the extra point and allow Derrius Bell to eventually return it for 2 points.

BTW, when was the last time that happened?

It's going to be like this every week with the defense. The line just won't be very good this year.

Yenga, Smart and McCann might be the only bright spots on this D

I'll second that Yenga's a good player. But I do think that there is good reason to put him at linebacker. He's fast enough and he's still a bit undersized for DE but he makes plays there. Yet a 6-2 225 guy with his speed sounds like a LB to me. BUS makes a good point that when Serge goes out we are about 260-270 up the middle. We need those 260-270 guys at DE. Evan needs to get more time in there as well because he's a biggin. Our DE's need to be LB's and our DT's need to be ends. We need some size, strength and speed.

I also like BLM a lot. Why not throw him in there. He can make plays. As long as our D isnt going to help us then why not.
Larry Brown? We have Larry Brown? Cool!
