I don't want to turn this thread into a debate about jersey color, but does anyone know if we are going with the blue jerseys or the red jerseys on Saturday?

Yes...we will be going with the blue jerseys or the red ones.
SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.

Yes...we will be going with the blue jerseys or the red ones.
But it will be SMU blue or SMU red, not Yale blue or Harvard red. We are SMU, not Harvard or Yale.

If you think what they are putting out on the uniform are our school colors...then welcome to grade school. Those are straight off the elementary colors chart.
And again I would like to direct you to my signature which recounts a piece of SMU history. You are obviously one who is willing to blow off one of our original traditions...the school colors. A pox on you.

I've been an ardent mustang fan for the last 20 years...the pox got to me before you did.

BTW, since you bring it up, what is the "real meaning" of our school colors as you say in your signature?

the real meaning is that we ripped the colors off of two schools that are better than us and came up with them. now THAT'S tradition.

We seem to be pretty picky-choosy about which traditions we choose to acknowledge around here. White helmets, a must! Where the hell's Peruna!?! Yale blue?...yish...Couldn't we use a different shade of blue and call it "SMU Blue" instead?

yea - call me crazy but i think SMU traditions should be about SMU. sure "yale blue" is the official name for our color but anyone who would prefer to have their color be referred to as "yale blue" instead of "smu blue" is a moron.

So what color shirt should I wear tomorrow?
A) Red
B) Crimson
C) Blue (a "royal"-type hue)
D) Navy Blue (aka "Yale" Blue)
Or should I wear a tux? Its the Iron Skillet game after all.

The selection of those colors was to symbolize SMU's high standards, that is the meaning. Perhaps the problem is that we no longer have those high standards...after all they did let me in.
