Do not know if this was a true turning point, but those few of us who stayed to the end witnessed a great effort with a lot of passion. With a little luck, fewer mental errors and no dropped balls, this was a game we could have won. Very glad I made the trip.

Looked like the Mustang Band, was the largest group on that side of the stadium.

My buddy who attended the SMU/TCU game with me last weekend was there tonight. He called me at the half and said there couldn't have been more than 4,000 people in the SuperDome tonight.

He was very, very happy to see the Mustang Band there tonight, too! He thinks there were probably 100 fans sitting on the SMU side (not counting the band). Not bad for a Thursday night 'away' game.

He also said the Mustangs looked like an ENTIRELY different team tonight (on the + side!) than they did last Saturday night.

Those superdome colored seats looked awesome on TV. Also, could Tulane not afford bigger lettering in the endzone? That has to be the smallest script I've ever seen.

The Pony faithful were in attendance and it was a good time (2nd half). The crowd was very sparse for Tulane. Great to have the band there. The temperature inside the Superdome was about 55 degrees--I would not be surprised if we all have pnuemonia today..

Sorry about the feathers, Bill.. ;-)

This was one of the worst attended college games I have ever been to. The Tulane student section was non-existent the entire game. There were few Tulane fans. If it had not been for a large number of bused in middle school kids in green shirts and the Tulane band and cheer, we would have been almost alone in the dome. It was also interesting that the Tulane band appeared to be even smaller than ours.

The TV cameras showed some TU students in the stands a few times. They must have been the only ones there! Also, I think my buddy said that the Mustang Band performed in tandem with the Tulane band? Is that right or did I misunderstand him?

Part of the reason the Tulane is so small in the endzones is because each time they use it, they have to use a machine that takes the paint off and put in Saints all over again...So they can't get too elaborate in writing the Tulane if you get what I mean. Yeah, they performed together but it sounded messy and I wasn't too sure about that whole performance in general...

Back in the late 70s and early 80s, the field was zipped together. The white lines every five yards concealed the seams and zippers. All they had to do back then was unzip the Tulane end zone and zip in the Saints end zone. When we played there in 80, the field was changed from Tulane to Saints by the time we had finished showering. Guess technology has improved since then.

did that "crowd" bring back memories of SMU vs Fresno in '94 (8211 announced in the Cotton Bowl). Boy, if that day/night didn't cry out the need for Ford Stadium...

IN Ron Meyer's first year we drew 5,000 to the Cotton Bowl to play Rice. But then, I remember the early days of the Cowboys/Texan competition when SMU was drawing 50,000 + to the Cotton Bowl and I attended a Cowboy/Colt game (with Unitas!) that didn't draw more than 10,000. The Murchison's gave away a Cadillac at halftime to get people there.

maybe. but a lot of times this year I've been reminded of another game against Fresno. At Fresno. They scored 42, I think. We didn't. At all.
I will not make age an issue in this campaign. I'm not going to exploit for political purposes my opponent's youth and inexperience.
