Students these days are so f-ing coddled. When I was in school there was no fall break, and we had to walk to class up hill both ways, in the snow.
real universities like tulsa don't have fall break, we just make our own....

Yeah, I noticed that during fall break the student section is practically empty at the UT, Penn State and Notre Dame games. You just can't let one of six home football games get in the way of seeing ol' mom and dad (since you haven't seen them in almost 3 weeks at parents weekend). Plus, Thanksgiving is lightyears away. We need to be prepared to use our cardboard cut-outs to populate the student section. If I went to Tarleton, Abilene Christian, NTSU or some remote or rural school - I'd have my bags packed to escape as soon as "fall break" started --- guys, this is SMU - enjoy it or you'll wish you had.

It should be more than that. I'm going, Tulsa is a pretty good ballclub. Should get a little bump from college football fans. And yes, I'll be pulling for the Stangs.

I predict 6,500-7,000 actual people in the stands. The perfect storm of an 11AM Red River Kick off, Fall Break, and Blow Levi Mitchell should make for a poor showing.

anyone notice the Mustang Club now also has an AFTER game reception in the Hall of Champions? That might keep a few of us around to look forward to drowning our sorrows.
I will not make age an issue in this campaign. I'm not going to exploit for political purposes my opponent's youth and inexperience.

expony has kind of come full circle. As a longtime lurker, I've taken notice that in the waning part of Bennett's regime, one of the last bastions of hope was held forth by expony, particularly the last time SMU won vs Tulsa in Dallas.
Funny, after that game I remember Hairopolous saying it was a "program defining win" the next day. Guess not.

No, that was the win over Kansas the day Ford opened.

I thought it was the win over a ranked TCU in '05.

SMU minutes away from being bowl eligible

They make it hard. They always do.
But the Mustangs look as though they've finally broken through.
SMU is up 34-24, thanks to Blake Warren's 14-yard run after a lateral pass, over Tulsa with 4:31 to play. SMU is minutes away from becoming bowl eligible. Minutes away from beating a team that was leading 24-7 at half time. Minutes away from a program-defining win.
A win at Rice next week would all but guarantee the Ponies their first bowl trip since 1984 and the death penalty.

Does that mean the loss at Rice the next week was a program defining loss, i.e. we always find a way not to have success?

well, we're minus a head coach, some well to do Dallasites are minus $10m, and we're 2-17 since that Tulsa win, so you could make that case I suppose. I think we've also given up enough yards to be able to go to the moon and back in that timeframe.
