Lance McFarlandOne of the posters on UT Rivals message board is posting that Lance McFarland, a would-be redshirt sophmore defensive lineman/linebacker at Texas, is going to transfer. They list SMU as the rumored destination.
Has anyone heard anything about this? Commentary was that he was too small for the line, but too slow to be a LB at Texas.
Re: Lance McFarlandHere's his bio from the on-line UT media guide:

Re: Lance McFarlandsounds like he wants to be back with his high school coach..coach jerry bennett. good looking kid. played linebacker and i believe tight end in high school.
Re: Lance McFarlandHave you seen him play, dandy? What are your thoughts about him?
Thanks "What kind of weirdo school are they running over there in Fort Worth?"

Re: Lance McFarland6-3, 235 sounds pretty stout. I assume he's an inside (middle) LB?
Re: Lance McFarlandponyfan, he was not a reach for div. I coming out of high school at all. i am willing to bet he has plenty of play left in him. size wise, taller than justin rogers, but about the same build. hope he has justin's work ethic.
Re: Lance McFarlanddunno... but he got offers from LSU, OU, K St, Neb, Col and Ark. Was listed as second team LB at UT.
Re: Lance McFarlandIs there any truth to the rumor?
Re: Lance McFarlandI tried to post on Hornfans to see if anyone had info, but their nazi webmaster immediately pulled my post saying they don't discuss transfer rumors.
There are several posts on Hornfans confirming that he is no longer on the team.
Re: Lance McFarlandIf StangEsq is right about that list of schools that offered the kid, it seems to me he's probably done enough that a lot of coaches think very highly of him. Of course, a fistful of offers doesn't guarantee a quality college career, but it certainly is a ringing endorsement.
Does anyone know if there's any truth to all this gossip?
Re: Lance McFarlandRan a quick search and found this site that listed the offers from other schools. I can't say that it's 100% accurate but it looks like the guy does his homework.
