The poor decision was to elect to take the ball after winning the coin toss. Navy got to take the wind, putting our offense at a disadvantage from the start. Great coaching.
Yes, the ball only went a couple of yards into the end zone, but it was a poor decision to bring it out under the circumstances. I thought the momentum of the fumble carried it in and he still could have taken a knee. Jesse may have feared otherwise (and opening the game with a safety).
