Bailiff was a proven commodity in I-AA and will be at Rice only until he gets a more attractive offer.

got to give him credit. Note that neither Baliff or Graham flushed the upperclasses out of the program. They utilized the talent on the team rather than starting 15 freshmen who never earned playing time. Redshirting is not a 4 letter word. I'm all for playing freshman if they are actually physically ready to help the program. Never seen so many redshirts flushed down the drain for so little. I personally think he knows he can "recruit over" these kids anyway so why redshirt them.

Rice 5-3 is respectable

Postby Sam I Am » Sun Oct 26, 2008 9:21 pm

Rice has lost to #1 UT, Vanderbilt, and Tulsa - good teams all. In retrospect, the Texas game was not just an instance of a weak mid-level team being pounded by a BCS champ. The Horns score high on everyone. Rice is for real, and where does that leave SMU? The ponies can't alibi about the hindrance of academic standards when a premier scholastic school wins and we don't.

alibi is a verb?
It tastes better when served from a Bowl (game)!

Well said.

Rice also gets smart athletes relatively speaking.

Actually glad to see them having some success.

I doubt their head coach will hang around for long.

Hard to see where waisting all the redshirts this year and not using more experienced upperclassmen players has helped. Fact is, I don't care how bad your team is, most true freshmen are not ready to play and in most cases it just doesn't do them or the team any good to put them on the field. Obviously, its hard to name any true freshmen this year playing who is ready to play.

Problem is he has burned the shirt on a few for playing time in one or two games only and for what.
