Lou Holtz makes this game almost unwatchable. How does he have a such a job - He slurs, has a speech impediment and adds no insight. He is bad enough in the studio, but doing color is way beyond his limited skills. Thanks for letting me rant.

"For your edification, here's how I ranked the top three coaches back in August:
1. June Jones, SMU: Any coach who can lead Hawaii to a 12-0 regular-season record must know what he's doing, but he has his work cut out for him in taking over an SMU program that hasn't been to a bowl game since the Death Penalty era.
2. Todd Graham, Tulsa: He took lowly Rice to their first bowl game in more than 40 years and followed that up by leading Tulsa to the Conference USA title game last year.
3. George O'Leary, UCF: He's the defending conference champion, but he needs to show some consistency.
Come on, UCF fans, I want to hear you all sing it together:
"I'm sorry, so sorry ..."
SMU - IT'S YOUR TURN FIRE JUNE JONES USC Trojan for Life and SMU Dad!

wish we could rekindle that glory year of 2006. 6-6 with a relevant game on Nov 25th. Not only that, but four defining moments: 1) UTEP... JWill punches an alternative lifestyle guy, likely costing us the game w/ his supsension2) UNT..for somereason unbeknownst to anyone, we don't prepare for the Safeway bowl. DeMyron gets hurt, effectively ruining the rest of his career.3) Houston... 4th and 30 from their own two yardline, we get a fistful of jersey in the endzone...they still convert4) Rice... 1st and goal from the 1Not all that far from 10-2. If we were anyone but SMU and all that entails, that's exactly what we would've been. Alas, we're SMU, and we still suck.
To #1: Also cost us a bowl, assuming we lose all the rest we lost.
To #2: I think that description of us forgetting to prepare for that game is the best description of what happened there. Honest to God I am still pissed about that game.
Also- what was DM's injury? It did effectively end his career indeed because he ain't done nothing since his FR year.
To#3: That play in particular still makes me want to punch a wall on occasion. Not to mention that it was homecoming and we blew a sizable lead. JUSTIN ROGERS HAD HIM BUT THAT SNAKE KOLB, THAT LUCKY-A$$ PIECE OF S#!T JUST HAPPENED TO STEP TWO FEET THE RIGHT DIRECTION AND BARELY AVOID ROGERS WHO WAS ABOUT TO PLANT HIS NEVER-GOING-TO-UNSEAT-DONOVAN MCNABB-AS-EAGLES' STARTING-QB-BECAUSE-HE-IS-A-SPARE BUTT INTO THE TURF.
To#4: HOW THE HELL DO YOU NOT GET 1 YARD IN 4 TRIES?!?!?! AHHHHH!!!! ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS LEAN FORWARD, PUSH THE OTHER GUYS BACK A LITTLE AND YOU HAVE 6 POINTS!!!
Larry Brown? We have Larry Brown? Cool!

UH getting blown out. CUSA down to 3 teams with winning records. MWC has 3 teams in the Top 20. Where's the guy that told me that CUSA was going to be strong after Week 1. Presently rated the 9th strongest conference according to Sagarin Ratings behind the MAC and above the Sun Belt.
UH just scored quickly to make it 37-16 with 12:30 to play-I guess there is still a chance.

I like Lou.
I always remember the day he called my home when he was as SC, told me who he was, asked for my son. I listened in when he introduced him self and Kyle didn’t know who he was LOL… He was real quite for a while and then offered him a scholarship.

Patrick Edwards basically had his right leg snap in half when he ran into some equipment behind the end zone. Video (blurry and not for the faint of heart):

It's almost comical, the video playing on ESPN.com right now claims that Edwards wasnt injured.

I have nightmares about both of these things to this very day - I was at both of these games and had basically the exact same reaction you just described.

This is the same Jeff Sagarin who has Weber State and Montana ranked higher than Michigan, Arkansas, Texas A&M, Mississippi State and Iowa State. Does anyone really think that Montana would beat any of those teams?

A$M's performance is slightly above but the others are bad.
Mich 2-6 lost 3 by 24 pts or more, scored no more than 27 pts in a game, only beat Miami of O by 16-6.
Ark only beat western Ill by 4 @ home, LA Monroe by 1 pt, 3 30 pt losses
Miss St 3-5 lost to La Tech, 2 30 pt losses
Iowa St 2-6 lost to UNLV, and Baylor and Neb by 28, A$M by 14
I think Weber St could do it. 7-2 Only lost to Utah on the road by 14 when Utah beat Wyo and Co. St by 30+
Montana's only loss is to Weber St. 7-1 but they have not been tested by FBS teams so I am not so sure about them.
Go Ponies!! Beat whoever it is we are playing!! @PonyGrad

I've seen Montana play. I believe they could defeat aTm, Arkansas, Mississippi State & Iowa State and pull an Appalachian State on Michigan.

At the beginning of this game they showed each teams rankings within the respective east/west divisions of Conference USA. THe east listing had Southern Miss listed on the bottom. When they showed the West listing, it had Southern Miss listed again, instead of SMU - No love at all.
