Another Dallas DE considering SMUBobby Washington of Samuell HS in Dallas has SMU on his short list. He's small (6-2, 200, 4.72) and plays tight end/defensive end. For his size, he's not overly fast, either, but he's extremely productive. His list includes Colorado, SMU, Texas A&M, Texas and TCU..
Re: Another Dallas DE considering SMUThat's incredibly small. That's smaller than Melvin Williams was when he signed, and although he's turned out to be a nice player for the Ponies, is there any assurance that this guy could add as much size and strength as Williams has? I don't think there's any such guarantee. Maybe this guy could play OLB, but that 4.72 sounds slow for an outside linebacker in Bennett's defense. At his size, he should be a safety even, but he definitely doesn't have the wheels for that. And when you figure in the statistical inflation kids and their coaches often throw out there, I wonder if he's even slower than that?

Re: Another Dallas DE considering SMUit should be pointed out that there is no statistical inflation anymore for kids that show up for Rivals and other camps. The first thing they do is weigh and measure the recruits. I think I notice that being reflected in the smaller reported size and heights of the recruits. That should be factored in-has the recruit been weighed and measured by a reliable source.

Re: Another Dallas DE considering SMUI don't know - some of this year's signees who showed up at the scrimmages looked a LOT smaller than their reported heights and weights. Hope you're right, though.
Re: Another Dallas DE considering SMUthey probably never attended a Rivals camp then-I'm just talking about the kids that go the camps sponsored by the recruiting services where they are measured and weighed. Private university based camps aren't going to release that info.
