Ramon Flanigan is among the throng of PonyFans who was disappointed to see the Mustangs fall to Memphis Saturday, but he was impressed by the play of quarterback Logan Turner, who filled in for the injured Bo Levi Mitchell. Turner's performance, Flanigan says, is proof that while the Ponies' record this season isn't what PonyFans had hoped for, the coaching staff clearly is having success teaching its system to the Ponies' quarterbacks.

Obviously Ramon is a homer... ...like most of us here, but I respect and appreciate the insite he gives us based upon his experience as a player and coach. Keep the reports coming and THANKS.
Edit: Lest people think otherwise, I meant "homer" in a good way. It's obvious from his reports that Ramon loves his alma mater big time.
SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.

Homer or not, how many of us focused on the fact that Turner's productiveness Saturday was a clear indication that Coach Jones and Coach Morrison really know what the hell they're doing? None. Good stuff.

The irony. He is such a homer that he barely drags himself away from the boulevard. Misses a lot of the start of the game (comes in after BLMs injury and the botched snaps and Memphis' two scores.) Guess he actually is a "Casual observer."
So after he got there we won the scoring battle, no wonder it looked like a better game.
Line was great? OK, he did miss the botched snaps that killed our first two drives and the total lack of initial running success.
Logan Turner looked just as prepared at the start of the season as he did in the last game. More so than BLM. That is why some questioned the decision to burn BLM's redshirt. If we knew today what we know now there would even be more questioning that "coaching decision."
It was sad after the game that JJ had very little good to say about LT even when the announcers were trying everything to pull it out of him.
Having said all this, at this point in the season, I think BLM would have been able to win that game and may have been the differnce in one of the next two, but we will never know. Conversely, I think that LT could have been the difference in some of the earlier games, at least in terms of margin.

A few minutes before kick-off, Ramon Flannigan was being presented a really cool framed collage of photos of his playing days at SMU from Special Delivery's Mark Finn, under their tent. He was on his way in, but was gracious enough to stop down and accept the framed pics, share some memories and pose for a few pictures with fans. He really went out of his way to be accomodating to everyone.
He easily could have "dragged" himself away from the boulevard, but his devotion to the fans was more important. He is a great guy and he may be on our Head Coach "short list" some day. I hope he's hired.

"The Pony Grad" has now already mentioned in two different threads about Ramon arriving to the game a few minutes late.
OMG wouldn't that be the freaking END OF THE WORLD!
My gosh.....SHAME SHAME SHAME on Ramon!
Lets "pee on the parade" of two threads!
Speaks before he knows the whole story.
Thanks Sosbee for clearing it up. Some people need to get a life.
Thank's. Just thought the Pony faithful deserves fair and balanced new.

OK perhaps my tone was a bit harsh, and the second thread was a comment with a wink, if you had noticed.
My real point was that his rosey evaluation was flavored by not having to endure the start of the game.
Peace.
