Chris Butler availiable for FinalSMU: Mitchell throws; Butler's available
2:26 PM Thu, Nov 20, 2008 | Permalink | Yahoo! Buzz Bobbi Roquemore E-mail News tips Freshman quarterback Bo Levi Mitchell resumed throwing today as expected. Mitchell sat out the practice earlier in the week after aggravating his right shoulder injury at UTEP. "He's still a little sore, but I needed him to get some reps today so that he can have some more time over the weekend, and then we'll get four or five good days of throwing next week," coach June Jones said. Sophomore running back Chris Butler, who owns the Mustangs' longest run from scrimmage this season (38 yards), will be available for the season finale against Southern Miss on Nov. 29. He has missed the last four games with a leg injury. Butler is the Mustangs' leading rusher with 157 yards in seven games, including a 95-yard performance against Tulsa. from the title I was afraid that he was only going to be available for his American History II final.
Though given the number of strikes out there, he may be up in the air on that ![]() -CoS
You know its a mess when your leading rush only started like 2 games all season and played in maybe 3 or 4
We would have beat Tulsa and Houston had he been around in my opinion He is our only true back
Sounds like one good game. You have to have a running game to compete out side of the Mac & CUSA
According to Bobbi Roquemore's article, he had 95 yds of rushing against Tulsa. Was that the game in which he got injured? SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.
You know you're running game is a mess when your leader is at 157 yards. Geeesh!!
McKinney and Martin both have more than 157 yards. Not a great deal more (173 and 165), but Butler isnt actually our leader. Try not to choke on the Kool-Aid.
It might be the worst SMU running attack......ever!
You have to have a running game to compete in any conference - Ball States win this week was a running back banging it down the field on the last drive then the pass for the final td. Sent from my KOREAN knockoff using Tapdance 5
Nice work by Bobbi to miss that little fact. She's been an absolute dud of a beat writer. And I'm not talking about the amount of coverage we should be receiving during a 1-10 season. That has nothing to do with it. The development of the beat has been very poor. I would have loved to have read about Jones dealing with this first-year flop. I would have loved to hear from Orsini and Co. about the first year frustration and season tickets sales and whatnot. You can still develop a beat and be dedicated to find good stuff out of it. I feel like I've learned nothing about this team from her. Instead, we got half-a$$ notes off a press release and the occasional lazy-a$$ feature. Good thing I stopped buying the DMN about 6 years ago. Congratulations to Jim Maroney for running that thing into the ground. Heck, it's gotten to the point where I don't even check out the DMN anymore for whatever. Or I forget to because I know they've mailed it in down there.
Actually in many respect Butler is our best RB statistically:
22+ yards per game vs. DM at 15 and McKinney less than 16 And yards per rush is more telling. CB 6.28, DM 3.84, and McK 4.02. ![]() Go Ponies!!
Beat whoever it is we are playing!! @PonyGrad
I'm pumped.

Appreciate your support, Bobbie has been better than what we had...she has actually been fairly decent. Life after Death (Penalty)
