Four Star Recruit set to visit SMU this WeekendI don't know if we have a had a four star recruit commit to SMU since the death penalty. Looks like we may have a real good chance on this Safety.

Re: Four Star Recruit set to visit SMU this Weekend
For those of us without a subscription, who is the kid? Details please? Thanks.
I haven't seen the Rivals article (the Jersey gave it away) so this is a guess but I'd say its probably Ryan Clark a Safety at Navarro JC (Beaumont Ozen) who is listed as a Texas Tech commitment who earlier in the year had considered SMU. He's 4 star and Navarro although rated No. 1 in the country for most of the year wasn't invited to a bowl so they are off
Its beginning to make a lot of sense. Report in a Texas Tech source says that former Texas Tech Safety Steven Harris has returned to the team as of last week after some disciplinary action. Tech already has 4 Safety commitments not including Harris and including Ryan Clark.
Apparently has decommitted from TT and is looking at SMU if we want him. Will do an unofficial visit this weekend. Will not graduate until May so would have to be a February signing if we offer.
I'd just like to point out for those who still think SMU is at a competitive disadvantage in recruiting-there are several that continue to bring this up-that this is yet another kid that was a non-qualifier out of high school. If you are still using that as an excuse I don't think you've been paying attention to football and basketball recruiting over the last 2 years. There was a definite change in recruiting standards since 2007.
If a 4 star defensive recruit visited this weekend, he undoubtedly saw an opportunity to play right away. Let's hope he likes what he sees as far as SMU as a place to go to school, likes the facilities, coaches, Dallas, etc...
yeah I think the 4 Star is a tad generous too but he did have offers from several schools out of high school too including Missouri and Kansas St. He did make 7 Interceptions last year as a Freshman JUCO. And they did win every game he played this year. Not sure what he has done this year but I read that he missed at least the last 3 games with an ankle injury.
A lot of Scouts prospects are not updated yet. Rivals generally has a better football rating system and Scout has the better basketball rating system. Rivals has film and several articles on him and Scout has no film and only one article on him(when he made his commitment to Tech). Clearly in this case Rivals is more accurate.
