Well I'd take USC-Alabama as an alternate but then I'm biased.

BTW it appears that USC will be Pac-10 Champion.

Not that it is worth much for SOS, but better than nothing!

Sorry HBPD but this year people give the Pac 10 about as much love as the Big 10. Big East 3-loss team going to the BCS and I guess Cinci is not too terrible from the Big East. Big 12 and the SEC could have 3 teams each in the BCS games

USC losing to Oregon State doomed them for sure, but the Texas loss was more of a miracle by TT, plus beating OU makes the whole BCS BS laughable as usual!

How the hell was the longhorn AD to know Arkansas would suck this year?

The schedules are made years in advance.

Who knew TCU would have such a great season this year adding to OU's SOS or that Chase Daniel and mizzou were overrated? or that UDUB is one of the worst teams in Division 1?
or OU got KU and UT gets mizzou this particular season?

Blaming the AD is ridiculous.

The fraud is OU losing soundly to the Horns and then winning by virtue of "style" points imo. UT beat OU soundly on a football field.

What a crock the BCS is.

While it is difficult to overcome the fact that Texas beat OU "head to head on a neutral field", it's not hard to see why so many who have a hand in this concluded that OU is the stronger team TODAY. OU was fortunate to have an incredibly strong finish against Tech and OSU and got to do so on a national stage.

The question is whether Missouri can pull an upset...and whether that would then put Texas in the "mythical national championship" game against the SEC champ. Even if OU wins out...what if Texas thumps the SEC runner up in the Sugar Bowl? They could join the Penn State/ USC winner and claim an "asterisk" bragging rights in what will NOT be a year in which we have an undisputed national champion. And of course Utah and Boise can still have "perfect seasons" (I guess I should include Ball State in that grouping)

In any given year, this system just shows it is no better than what we used to have. At least the old ways of declaring the "national champion" allowed SMU to claim we once won one of those.

This season provides the absolute proof that the BCS system is a total fiasco and that a playoff system is necessary. A computer is going to first decided the Big XII south champion based on strength of schedule then the computer is going to decide the national championship teams if Florida were to beat Alabama. It is ludicrous that so much value is placed on strength of schedule when most schedules are made up 10 years earlier and thereby become a roll of the dice by the time the game is played. The Big 10(11), for example, does not even have all conference teams play each other every year and their winner may not have played the best 2 or 3 teams in their own conference without a playoff. How can you predict the strength of your non-conference schedule 10 years in advance? Obviously, playing lower division teams is a gimmey; however, the rest is unknown. It is unfair that USC, Penn State, TT, Boise State and Utah are all totally shafted, Texas and OU situation decided largely because long time door mat Cincinnati wins a very weak Big East and the situation then becomes absolutely ridiculous if Florida were to beat Alabama. Based on strength of schedule Florida should play Alabama AGAIN for the title. How can is not be the scenario when #1 loses to #2 providing the absolute strength of schedule rating when no other teams will have the opportunity to match this situation and all are currently poll rated lower????? Yes, Florida should play Alabama if Florida wins the championship. Explain to me how #3 OU beating Missou, who may not even be ranked in the top 25, gives them any strength of schedule points to play in the BCS championship???? In fact, it may arguably lower OU's strength of schedule rating to the point that Texas and USC jump them in the polls. Is it really possible to win a conference championship, end up 12-1 and fall out of the national title picture??? Win or lose OU should fall out of the national title picture for merely being selected to play a good, but not good enough 3 loss team in the conference championship. Texas and USC should be cheering. We will see.
