how so? It is still "off topic". He is a public figure and he is unfortunately tied to SMU, it is the same as people ripping on PB or Cavan or Copeland.

That was how I read it. I hope it works out for him, though I would have left off the part about the soup kitchen.

Yeah buddy, someone stating that phil bennett is a horrible excuse for a head football coach (which he was/is/will continue to be) is the SAME thing as discussing his (or dale's or anyone else's) relationship with his kids, etc.

He placed his issues in the public that is his prerogative but if he writes these things in a public forum I have no problem with people criticizing him.

It is a valid topic of PF, if you dont like it dont open the thread buddy. No one is making anything up about Dale, he said his kids hate him, most people here said it was probably because he was a [deleted] father. I dont see how that is really bashing his family and more than he already did.

Pony Soup wrote:criticize him in THAT forum then, dont take it away to another place and talk trash about his family.
I believe the trash talking is aimed at him, and rightfully so.
Look, the guy is tied to the biggest black eye on our program's history, and many, many people on this board have discussed how big of a scumbag he is within other threads. So the chatter on THIS thread is intended for those who might find it interesting. I'm sure it will die a quicker death if you stopped replying.

Dale is a jerk. There are many jerks in this world. To go on air - Not good unless it was to praise.
Peace a love to all kids and parents. There will always be problems but love will concur all. In Time.
Peace be with you always in the Holy Ghost that was brought ot you through Jesus the Christ.
Merry Christ-mass

Most of you guys sound like the whiny little jerks. Dale Hansen didn't do anything wrong on reporting what was a underhanded, cheating, low life football program at SMU. Your hatred of Dale Hansen stems directly from him simply doing his job. Get over it.

MrMustang1965 wrote:Interesting timing for [deleted] Hansen to do this 'editorial' after his son was quoted in the DMN over the weekend in connection with the Geis triple homicide case. Eric Hansen, son of WFAA-TV sports anchor Dale Hansen, said he had known Ms. Geis for three years and had been dating her for the past few months. He said Mr. Geis was rarely at home when he would come to the house to drop off his 8-year-old son, who was best friends with Matthew Geis.
He also said that Ms. Geis told him she was getting a divorce from her husband of 11 years.
Frank Geis said he and his wife were not getting a divorce. "If that was the case, wouldn't there be a public record?" A search of Dallas County records turned up no divorce filing.
He also said it was not true that he had been living elsewhere.
Mr. Hansen said that Ms. Geis was a stable woman – up until she called him after last Saturday's alleged home invasion.
"She was hysterical," Mr. Hansen said. "If she faked that, that woman deserves an Oscar."
Still, he said that as days passed, he came to believe the alleged attacks did not occur as she related them.

I think most people understand it was Dale's job to uncover our cess-pool of a football program. What I wished is that he had spent more time investigating the others that were doing it also - instead of just getting the Stanley info in his lap and walking through the obvious. A little investigate work would have delivered a much bigger story then what he got - but he was too lazy.
Also it is fun to see jerk's brought down - he has proven himself to be a jerk - and I find it funny when he is exposed (like when Switzer beat him up on camera, or when his children prove he is a blow hard).
So i think all that is both relevant to an SMU fan and is fine material for the heady world of sports blogs.
