I know that has to go back to BEFORE the death penalty for me. We consistently disappoint and fail to meet expectations. Even in our "better" seasons, we've finished on a disappointing note

starts with Sun Bowl defeat at hands of Alabama
plenty of miserable "we are the worst team" seasons
finally a SWC Bball title...and 1st round tourney losses
then finally a winning football season...and a loss to 0-10 TCU
skip to the Sasser years and post season appearance...1st round loss

there aren't many of us, but an argument can be made that we are among the most hard core loyal fans that any college athletics program in the country has

Be careful using that 'athletics' term with our teams.

For b-ball, the 1988 SWC championship team that was 28-7, beat Notre Dame in the 1st round of the NCAA (on St. Pat's Day, no less), and then lost to eventual Final Four team Duke in the 2nd round.

Very funny post F2T,

You might want to include interaction with family and friends…you know, the going into a separate room during a party to watch the game, or leaving somewhere early, or staying somewhere late, or better yet, not going out at all because kick-off is ‘right in the middle of the day’….only to be let down once again by their play.

Luckily my wife is very understanding, she has actually gone to several road games with me... all of them losses…best one was against Fresno State a few years ago. First 6 Fresno State possessions = 6 Fresno State TDs.

Her line when I am listening to SMU games online…â€
