Of those 14 wins that year -- 13 came against teams ranked outside the top 100 in the RPI, 10 came against teams outside the top 150 and 7 came against teams ranked 200 or worse.

He has lost to the following schools: North Carolina A&T, Southern, Alabama State, Centenary, South Carolina Upstate, Arkansas Pine Bluff and Texas San Antonio

One third of his career victories at SMU have come against the following:
Houston Baptist, TA&M International, TA&M Corpus Christi, UTSA, Prairie View (twice), Texas State, Brown and UT Pan Am.

He has beaten five teams in his SMU career that have finished with a winning record (hasn't beaten one this year that has a winning record right now): in 2007, Louisiana Monroe (15-14), Dayton (19-12) and Tulane (15-13); in 2008, UCF (16-15), UTEP (19-14); and this year zero.

It doesn't take five or six years to build a competitive basketball program.

He made a big mistake taking seven kids in his first full recruiting class (two of which can play at this level). Williams and McCoy are/were good gets. Dia and Nykundi are decent. The rest can't play at the level needed to make the NCAAs.

Oh, forgot about Faye.

williams and faye are nice to have on the squad, the problem is next year is it for them. no future. mccoy is the only piece you can look at and say for sure he could be a contributor on a post season caliber team.

That is not a good coaching career overall.

That is the issue..... You have to look at next year, no postseason again. Williams is gone after next year. Only one ship so that is another 2 yrs before any Ncaa sniff. So basically Doh will be gone and we'll have to start over again. Yuk.

I sure do wish we had 3-4 ships next year to fill in some holes for McCoy. I agree Hoop Fan, he's the only bright spot. I really think Nyukandi has some good bball sense and will get better. Why can't we get one hard nose guy like Morrow....just one please.

I will say this, it seems like since Doh has been at SMU -- actually maybe since Orsini arrived (since I see Jones is gonna do this as well) -- the school seems okay with running kids off if they can't play.

If Doh can clear out some of the dead wood on the roster, and there is a good amount of it, and upgrade, then that might help speed things up.

Bottom line, he hasn't had a good coaching career, hasn't shown the ability to build a program, and doesn't look like he can identify and/or develop talent.

Well, he would have to run off at least 3-5 to make this a real competitive team. How many have been run off? Rhodes and who else so far? I can't remember.

I still chuckle when I think back to last year when people on this board called the freshman class perhaps the best ever at SMU...a top 25 class, and that the signs of a bright future were obvious with this core....that the guys were improving every game.

A number of times I specifically asked what they were seeing...because I certainly didn't see it. I saw the potential in Dia but that was about it. One year later, it looks like there isn't a starter in that class of 7.

I want to go back and look at who was posting how great the class was or would be, but I'm too lazy.

I just don't understand how Dia's gotten worse. He had some bright spots last yr. I'm too lazy too look up his point totals last year but if I recall his rebounding was much better. Maybe he's just a head case.

he may be the most frustrating player I've watched in my 15 years of following SMU basketball. When he decides to play, he has all-conference ability, but 90% of the time he appears to just go through the motions.

I don't know if TCU's Christian can recruit but he has taken a team with little talent and is now what-!3 and 6 in his first year. Why-because he can seemingly coach. To be honest Doh, now 3 years in, has more talent and look at the results-they speak for themselves. He was sadly the wrong hire.

JS, I don't think so....here is the bulk of his non-conference victories:

McNeese State, LA Monroe, Paul Quinn (2), Texas College, Prairie View A&M (2), Centenary, Texas Pan-America, Brown, UT-SA, Houston Baptist (2), Texas State, Alabama State, Texas A&M - International, and Texas A&M - Corpus Christi...

That's not one third....its over HALF his total victories.

Good point. How could I forget about those two wins over Paul Quinn -- Paul freakin' Quinn? Are you kidding me? -- and TC.
